There is no single cross-platform chart that can establish which new shows are “dominating.” In Nielsen’s U.S. weekly streaming chart for September 14–20, 2026, Prime Video’s Neagley ranked first overall; Netflix’s global report for January–June 2026, using its own views metric, named His & Hers its most-watched show of the half. Those results measure different audiences, time windows and kinds of viewing, so they are useful snapshots—not a head-to-head ranking.
What was leading U.S. streaming in the latest weekly chart?
Nielsen’s overall U.S. streaming chart for September 14–20, 2026 ranked Neagley first, with 1,776 million minutes viewed across eight episodes. Netflix’s Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story followed with 1,481 million minutes, and Prime Video’s returning series Reacher (season two) placed third with 1,420 million. These are weekly minutes watched through television by U.S. viewers age 2 and older, not global audience totals or counts of individual viewers. Nielsen’s streaming Top 10 ranks titles by total minutes viewed; its listed providers reflect program-level data availability, while its viewing data include streaming beyond the named providers.
| Rank | Series | Service associated with title | Minutes viewed | What the figure covers |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Neagley | Prime Video | 1,776 million | U.S. weekly chart, September 14–20, 2026; eight episodes |
| 2 | Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story | Netflix | 1,481 million | U.S. weekly chart, September 14–20, 2026 |
| 3 | Reacher, season two | Prime Video | 1,420 million | U.S. weekly chart, September 14–20, 2026 |
A high chart position does not necessarily mean a series just premiered. The weekly totals can reflect viewing across multiple episodes, including earlier seasons of returning shows.
Which new Netflix series drew the largest reported audiences?
Netflix’s January–June 2026 viewing report uses a different measure: views among Netflix members worldwide over six months. It reported His & Hers at 104 million views, making it the service’s most-watched show of the half. Other new series in Netflix’s reported standouts included I Will Find You at 64 million views, Run Away at 50 million, and Teach You a Lesson at 48 million. Season one of Nemesis recorded 33 million views.

Netflix said viewers watched more than 97 billion hours on the service during the half-year, its highest half-year total to date, across genres and languages. The company’s July 16, 2026 report also said five of its ten most-watched shows premiered during that half. These are Netflix’s own reported title-view figures, not Nielsen minute totals or an independent ranking across streaming services. Netflix says it plans to shift from six-month snapshots to yearly reports beginning in Q1 2027. Read Netflix’s first-half 2026 viewing report.
Why platform-wide viewing does not prove a new show is a hit
Service-level viewing can be lifted by sports, older catalog titles or returning series, rather than a new original. Nielsen’s May 2026 platform report attributed Prime Video gains to The Boys, which drew 5 billion minutes, and live sports. Netflix also benefited from the acquired series La Brea, which drew more than 4 billion minutes. Those numbers describe May platform and title viewing, not the performance of new premieres as a category. Nielsen’s May 2026 report provides that context.

The same distinction applies to older reporting periods. Nielsen reported that Stranger Things generated more than 15 billion minutes in December 2025, making it that month’s top streaming title; Prime Video’s gains included NFL games and new episodes of Fallout. Nielsen also said streaming accounted for 47.5% of television in December, a record share at the time. That is a measure of streaming’s share of TV use—not proof that any one new series drove the platform result. See Nielsen’s December 2025 report, published January 20, 2026.

- For a current U.S. weekly signal: Nielsen’s September 14–20 chart puts Neagley first overall, followed by Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story and Reacher season two.
- For a global Netflix half-year signal: Netflix’s own report places His & Hers at the top among its reported standouts, followed by I Will Find You, Run Away, Teach You a Lesson and Nemesis season one.
- For a fair comparison: keep geography, date range and metric attached to each number. Netflix’s six-month global views cannot be directly ranked against Nielsen’s one-week U.S. minutes watched.
- Before pressing play: check the service’s catalog in your country. The reported service association and chart position do not guarantee that a title is currently available in every region.
Rankings change as new episodes arrive and viewing accumulates. Treat each figure as a dated snapshot, not a permanent verdict on popularity.
