East of Eden led the U.S. JustWatch TV chart when it was updated at 9:11 a.m. on October 8, 2026. Netflix’s separate weekly English TV ranking also placed it first for September 28–October 4. Those charts measure different things, so there is no single definitive top 10 across every streaming service.
What are the hottest streaming shows in the U.S. right now?
JustWatch’s U.S. TV chart is a cross-service snapshot based on user activity, rather than minutes watched. The five leading titles visible in its October 8 update were:
- East of Eden — up 39 positions; Netflix.
- Lanterns — unchanged; HBO Max and Philo Live.
- Ted Lasso — up one position; Apple TV.
- War — up 39 positions; HBO Max.
- Slow Horses — down four positions; Apple TV and Prime Video.
JustWatch says its charts use activity from the last 24 hours, seven days, or 30 days. Signals include clicking a streaming offer, adding a title to a watchlist, and marking it as seen. It describes its service as collecting data from more than 50 million movie and TV fans monthly, with daily updates covering 140 countries and 4,500 streaming services. These are JustWatch’s descriptions of its own data and methodology. JustWatch U.S. TV chart and methodology
The chart page exposed only five fully available results in the consulted snapshot. The remaining five positions in a cross-service top 10 therefore cannot be named reliably here.

Netflix’s top 10 English TV titles for September 28–October 4
Netflix’s weekly English TV ranking is a separate, service-specific list. The figures below are views and viewing hours attributed to each title or season for that week. The data is presented by What’s on Netflix as compiled Netflix Top 10 information; it is not the JustWatch chart.
| Rank | Title | Views | Viewing hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | East of Eden: Limited Series | 6,500,000 | 45,500,000 |
| 2 | Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story: Season 1 | 5,700,000 | 37,900,000 |
| 3 | A Different World: Season 1 | 5,100,000 | 27,900,000 |

| 9 | The Gentlemen: Season 1 | 1,700,000 | 11,400,000 |
| 10 | Gabby’s Dollhouse: Season 14 | 1,700,000 | 2,700,000 |
Netflix’s reported views and hours do not always move in lockstep: for example, Wonka’s The Golden Ticket ranked fourth by views but recorded more hours than the third-place title. A view count and a watch-time total are different measures, not interchangeable rankings. Netflix weekly ranking data compiled by What’s on Netflix

Why the charts do not produce one universal top 10
- JustWatch: cross-service engagement signals, using a short rolling activity window.
- Netflix Top 10: Netflix-specific weekly views and viewing hours, reported by title or season.
- Nielsen: U.S. overall television audience estimates that include broadcast, cable, and live streaming. Its overall chart is not a streaming-only ranking; Nielsen’s streaming charts are separate and have provider-coverage limits.
Before comparing positions, check the chart’s geography, dates, catalog coverage, and measurement unit. Nielsen’s list for September 28–October 4 is useful as broader TV context, but it is not directly comparable to either JustWatch’s cross-service engagement chart or Netflix’s service-specific weekly list. Where to watch the leading titles
The JustWatch snapshot listed Netflix for East of Eden; HBO Max and Philo Live for Lanterns; Apple TV for Ted Lasso; HBO Max for War; and Apple TV and Prime Video for Slow Horses. These are the providers shown with the chart’s leading titles, not a guarantee of availability everywhere. Streaming catalogs can vary by country and change over time, so check the service in your region before subscribing or searching. JustWatch U.S. TV chart
