Sid’s version, as recounted in that oral history, was that the argument grew heated, a beer was thrown, and Anderson threatened him with a broken bottle in the hallway. Sid said he returned to his room, broke a chair leg, then went back to confront Anderson; he also said he discarded the chair leg before the fight. - Vader recalled helping Sid control his bleeding while they waited for an ambulance.
- Richard Steinberg, who identified himself as WCW’s Director of Marketing Services and said he was on the tour, described arriving in the lobby at about 2:30 a.m. He recalled blood, open hotel rooms, damaged furniture, and Sid bleeding. Steinberg said, “I was directly involved in the incident.”
These are retrospective witness descriptions of what they heard or saw; they do not resolve the disputed sequence leading to the fight.
What injuries and consequences were reported?
Both men were taken for medical care. The 2024 Pro Wrestling Stories account says Sid underwent exploratory surgery and Anderson was treated for numerous cuts. The History of WWE’s 1993 results chronology gives a more specific figure of about 20 stab wounds for Anderson; that is a secondary-source report, not a verified medical record, so it should not be treated as an uncontested count.
The Pro Wrestling Stories account says no charges were filed. It also reports that WCW President Eric Bischoff fired Sid after wrestlers threatened to leave if he remained, while Anderson received a suspension. These are details reported in that retrospective account.

Why is there no definitive Arn Anderson account?
The available accounts do not provide a complete first-person version from Anderson. In an archived Prodigy chat dated March 28, 1998, he declined to discuss the hotel incident, saying: “It’s already been covered in the press, and legally…I can’t discuss it.” A listing for a Sid Vicious shoot interview identifies the Anderson scissors incident as a highlight, reflecting the story’s long afterlife in wrestling interviews, but not independently verifying the disputed details.
