America’s last Blockbuster is at 211 NE Revere in Bend, Oregon. It is still a locally owned video-rental store, not a surviving corporate Blockbuster location. The Oregon Encyclopedia records it as the last U.S. store in August 2018; the store and regional tourism guide describe it as the last one in the world. If you plan to visit or rent a movie, contact the store first: its published contact page does not list current hours.
Where is the last Blockbuster?
The store is at 211 NE Revere, Bend, Oregon. Its official site calls it “The Lone Survivor.” The regional visitor guide also identifies it as the last Blockbuster on Earth, though that worldwide distinction is the store’s and guide’s characterization rather than a published, independently audited global count.
The official contact page lists 541-385-9111 and [email protected]. Hours and same-day operating status are not listed there, so check directly before setting out.
Can you still rent movies there?
Yes. The Bend location remains a rental store as well as a nostalgia-focused attraction. Visit Central Oregon describes DVD and Blu-ray rentals, plus branded merchandise and souvenirs. The visitor guide says renters need a credit or debit card and one government-issued ID, and must have access to compatible playback equipment where they are staying. Confirm current rental terms with the store before your visit.

The official site advertises a selection of more than 21,000 movies. That is the store’s own inventory claim, not an independently verified count of titles currently available to rent. Its site also features Blockbuster-themed items including a coin bank, game, hoodie, socks, onesie and sweatpants.
How did the Bend store become the last one?
From local video shop to franchise
Ken Tisher started the Pacific Video rental business in 1990, according to the Oregon Encyclopedia, a project of the Oregon Historical Society. The Bend shop licensed the Blockbuster name in 2000. That distinction matters: it was a locally owned franchise, not simply one of the chain’s corporate stores.

The chain declined, but the franchise remained
Blockbuster had more than 9,000 U.S. locations at its 2004 peak, the Oregon Encyclopedia reports. Streaming, DVR technology and alternatives such as Netflix and Redbox contributed to the chain’s decline. DISH Network bought the failing company in April 2011 for a reported $320 million. Corporate stores later closed after an attempted revival, while licensed locations could continue independently.
Bend outlasted the other locations
After Alaska’s remaining Blockbuster stores closed, Bend became the last in the United States in August 2018, according to the Oregon Encyclopedia. By March 2019, TIME described the Bend store as the last in the world. The historical and tourism sources support the store’s continuing singular status, but they do not provide an independently verified current worldwide store count.

Why has the store survived?
Local ownership helped it continue after corporate locations shut down, but the precise causes of its survival are best understood as explanations offered by people close to the store, not as a documented financial breakdown. Manager Sandi Harding told TIME in 2019 that local pride was part of the appeal: “Bend has grown tremendously in the last few years. But I think that even though we’re growing and getting bigger, people really love to buy local.”
Visit Central Oregon also points to community support, tourism, rentals and merchandise. Its guide says thousands of visitors come each year, but provides no measurement method; treat that as promotional language rather than a verified visitor statistic. The available sources do not establish the store’s current revenue mix or annual visitor total.
