Penguin Random House calls it “A powerful and poetic picture book, featuring gorgeous watercolor art, about a child who learns to make peace with their overwhelming emotions.” Its synopsis frames the story as a way for children to explore frightening emotions and feel more at home within themselves.
What age is the picture book for?
The publisher lists the picture book for ages 4–8, from preschool through grade 3. That is the publisher’s stated audience; it does not establish a required reading level or guarantee that the themes will suit every child. For a read-aloud, a caregiver or teacher can use the story’s encounters with loneliness, sadness and fear to invite conversation at the child’s pace.

Its plot follows residents of a high-tech compound who discover they are clones and escape. This is separate from Sterer’s children’s book. Paramount’s official film page provides the film details.

The Island (2023), the novel
Natasha Preston’s YA thriller centers on six social-media influencers invited to a private island amusement park. It is a novel, not the picture book or the 2005 film. Penguin Random House’s listing identifies this separate title at its publisher page.
