Some details come from contemporaneous news reports; one dispute is described in a published federal court decision. Allegations in those sources should not be mistaken for findings by a court.
What lawsuits involved Guns N’ Roses members?
The cases below are not a complete docket-level inventory. The cited reporting and court decision establish a number of disputes, but do not provide a verified final outcome for every one.

What happened in Steven Adler’s lawsuit?
Steven Adler’s suit was brought in July 1991, according to the Los Angeles Times’ 1993 coverage of trial testimony. Adler alleged that he had been expelled from the band and cheated out of his share of its earnings. The report supports the existence of the suit and describes allegations presented in the case; it does not establish the terms of any settlement or provide a basis for claiming a particular final outcome.
What were the songwriting and name-and-likeness disputes about?
Paul Tobias Weber’s claim over two compositions
The 1999 federal decision in Weber v. Geffen Records recounts Paul Tobias Weber’s claim that former bandmates excluded him from proceeds connected with two compositions he said he co-wrote. Axl Rose, Duff McKagan, and Izzy Stradlin were among the defendants named in the opinion. The decision is a primary legal source for the case’s procedural account, but the fact that an opinion recounts a party’s claim does not make that claim a judicial finding.

Gilby Clarke’s reported 1995 suit
Billboard reported that Gilby Clarke filed a California Superior Court suit alleging commercial misappropriation of his name, likeness, photograph, voice, and performance. The available report does not describe how the case ended, so it cannot support a conclusion about liability or resolution.
Why did Slash and Duff McKagan sue Axl Rose?
A 2005 Los Angeles Times report describes lawsuits filed by Slash and Duff McKagan against Axl Rose, including a second suit filed in August 2005 and an earlier suit in 2004. The reported allegations concerned administration of Guns N’ Roses copyrights, income, and assets claimed to belong to the group. They are allegations attributed to the plaintiffs and their side, not established facts in the reporting.

The same article relayed a lawyer’s estimate of roughly $500,000 a year in disputed revenue. That figure was an attributed estimate, not an adjudicated amount or an independently verified accounting, and should not be read as a proven annual loss.
What other management-related disputes were reported?
Izzy Stradlin’s reported 2003 case
A 2003 Blabbermouth report attributed to Launch said Izzy Stradlin sued band management and lawyers over services associated with the group’s 1991 management agreement. Because the available account is secondary reporting and does not establish the underlying filing or disposition, the details should be treated cautiously.

Alan Niven’s 2025 lawsuit
Axios reported in 2025 that former manager Alan Niven sued over the band’s effort to block publication of his autobiography. Niven’s complaint reportedly alleged breaches or waiver of confidentiality terms. Those are claims described in reporting, not findings; the case’s current status is not established here. This later dispute involves a former manager and does not demonstrate that earlier member-related cases were secret.

“Secret lawsuits” is not supported by the sources cited here. The record includes contemporaneous newspaper and trade reporting, a published federal decision, and later reporting by Axios. That does not establish that every dispute was widely known at the time, but it is not evidence that the cases were secret.

They describe several different disputes, with uneven documentation and unresolved questions about outcomes. A precise count would require a broader docket-level review than the evidence available here supports.
