The Glass Dome is a six-episode Swedish crime thriller about a criminologist drawn into a missing-child case that echoes her own abduction as a child. Created and written by Camilla Läckberg, it is a fictional original story—not an adaptation of one of her novels—and Netflix lists it in its catalog.
What is The Glass Dome about?
Criminologist Lejla returns to her Swedish hometown after the death of her adoptive mother. When Alicia, the daughter of Lejla’s friend, disappears, the investigation stirs memories of Lejla’s own childhood abduction. The two cases give the series its central connection between a present-day search and the protagonist’s past. Netflix describes the fictional village as caught between tradition and modernization.

The story takes place in Granås, a fictional town in Dalarna, central Sweden—not a real town called Granås. Netflix’s series guide and Media Center listing describe the premise and setting.
Is The Glass Dome based on a book or a true story?
No. Netflix Tudum identifies the series as a fictional original story by Camilla Läckberg, rather than an adaptation of a book or a true-story account. Läckberg’s Fjällbacka novels are separate crime-fiction works, not source material or tie-ins for the series. Readers who enjoy her writing can explore those novels as adjacent reading.
