The Dallas Cowboys said the show set a North American indoor-concert attendance record at the time. It was the finale of that tour—not Strait’s final concert of his career.
How many people attended George Strait’s final Cowboy Rides Away concert?
The reported attendance was 104,793. Strait’s official site gives that figure for the live release and final concert, and the Dallas Cowboys’ 2014 report also records 104,793 attendees. The show took place at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on June 7, 2014. (George Strait official site; Dallas Cowboys report)

What record did the 2014 concert set?
The Dallas Cowboys described Strait’s show as the largest indoor concert in North America at that time. It surpassed the estimated 87,500-person crowd cited for the Rolling Stones’ 1981 concert at the Louisiana Superdome. The figure for the Stones is an estimate, while the Strait attendance was reported as 104,793. (Dallas Cowboys report)
Is it still the largest concert attendance record?
No. The 2014 distinction should be understood as a record at the time and within the category the venue named: largest indoor concert in North America. In 2024, Strait’s label, MCA Nashville, reported 110,905 attendees at his June 15 concert at Kyle Field and called it the largest single concert in U.S. history. Those are differently scoped claims, so they should not be treated as the same record category. (MCA Nashville, 2024)

How can you revisit the tour finale?
MCA Nashville announced a live release titled The Cowboy Rides Away: Live from AT&T Stadium. The deluxe edition was announced with 28 live tracks across two CDs and a DVD of the 40-song concert. The label said the deluxe package was exclusive to Walmart at release; that historical detail does not establish where the edition is currently available. (MCA Nashville release announcement)
The announcement describes a 40-song concert, while a contemporaneous review reproduced in Strait’s official newsletter says he performed 41 songs. Because the sources differ in their count, it is safest to refer to the show without stating an unqualified total. (George Strait newsletter)
