If you want another series built around deadly games and survival pressure, start with Alice in Borderland. For a money-driven contest that leans harder into confinement and social disparity, try The 8 Show. Other strong picks shift the focus to class divisions, outbreak survival, or unsettling technology stories rather than copying Squid Game’s format.
Which show should you watch after Squid Game?
Choose based on the part of Squid Game that held your attention: the lethal contests, the money and inequality, or the way people behave under extreme pressure. Netflix’s July 1, 2025 recommendations include the five series below, but they are distinct alternatives, not interchangeable copies. Netflix notes that its recommendations may vary by region.
| Show | Closest match | Best for | How it differs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alice in Borderland | Deadly games and survival stakes | More high-pressure contests | Japanese dystopian sci-fi thriller set in an alternate Tokyo |
| The 8 Show | Dangerous competition and money | Confinement, social disparity, and behavior under pressure | Time and keeping the game going shape the premise |
| 3% | A competition in a divided society | Class inequality and selection systems | Brazilian post-apocalyptic setting |
| All of Us Are Dead | Ensemble survival | Group survival and escalating danger | Zombie outbreak and school drama, not a money contest |
| Black Mirror | Dark social commentary | Unsettling technology-focused stories | Stand-alone anthology episodes rather than one continuous contest |
1. Alice in Borderland is the closest match for deadly games
In this Japanese sci-fi thriller, people must survive dangerous games in a dystopian alternate Tokyo. It is the clearest next choice if you want the combination of rules, high stakes, and physical danger that makes Squid Game gripping. Netflix describes the series as dark, fast-paced, and suspenseful, and identifies Haro Aso’s manga as its source material.
Netflix’s August 4, 2026 guide says all three seasons are streaming on Netflix, including a third-season story that continues the characters’ struggle to survive. Netflix had previously announced the third season for worldwide streaming on September 25, 2025, and named Shogakukan as the manga’s publisher. If the adaptation leaves you wanting more, the manga is a natural next step; the edition and language you can get depend on your market.

2. The 8 Show focuses on money, confinement, and social disparity
Eight people are trapped in a dangerous game show where money accumulates as time passes. That premise makes The 8 Show a good pick if you liked Squid Game’s cash-driven setup but want the pressure to come from confinement, time, and relationships among contestants. Netflix lists it as an eight-episode series from 2024.
Netflix Media Center describes the contestants as earning money as time passes. The shared competition setup is real, but the shows are not the same kind of story: The 8 Show puts its emphasis on keeping the game going and the social disparity between people inside it.

3. 3% makes inequality the central obstacle
This Brazilian post-apocalyptic series is the choice for viewers most interested in Squid Game’s critique of class and unequal opportunity. Its society is split between the impoverished Inland and the elite Offshore; candidates compete in the Process for a chance at a better life. The premise turns selection itself into a source of tension.
Netflix’s recommendation list labels 3% as a four-season series. The title should not be treated as a verified real-world statistic about who succeeds; the useful comparison is its fictional system of division and selection.

4. All of Us Are Dead trades a contest for outbreak survival
If you want a group of people trapped together and forced to fight for survival, but would rather leave game-show rules behind, try this Korean series. Students face a zombie outbreak at school, and the story mixes escalating danger with coming-of-age drama. It is based on a Webtoon comic.
The overlap with Squid Game is the ensemble survival pressure, not the source of the threat: here, an outbreak replaces an organized contest for money.

5. Black Mirror is for dark social satire, not one continuous game
Black Mirror suits viewers who want unsettling social commentary more than another survival competition. Its stand-alone anthology episodes examine how technology affects people and society, and the genre varies from story to story. You can watch individual episodes without following one continuous contest or cast.
Netflix’s July 2025 list labels it as a seven-season series. The connection to Squid Game is its dark view of social behavior, not a shared game premise.
