The new Gundam series made with the studio behind Neon Genesis Evangelion is Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX (ジークアクス). It is a collaboration between Studio Khara and Sunrise, and its 12-episode Japanese TV run aired in 2025. Hideaki Anno is one of its scriptwriters—not its director; Kazuya Tsurumaki directed the series.
What is the new Gundam show made with the Evangelion studio?
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is the first collaborative work between Studio Khara, the studio behind the Evangelion series, and Sunrise, the studio associated with Gundam, according to Bandai Namco. The company described the project as a completely new Gundam series. Bandai Namco’s announcement introduced the project on December 4, 2024.
The title is commonly rendered as GQuuuuuuX; its Japanese reading is “ジークアクス.” It is a Gundam production with a new creative team, rather than an Evangelion series or a project directed by Anno alone.
Is Hideaki Anno directing GQuuuuuuX?
No. The official staff credits name Kazuya Tsurumaki as director. Yoji Enokido and Hideaki Anno are credited as scriptwriters, while Studio Khara and Sunrise are the production studios. The original-work credit lists Yoshiyuki Tomino and Hajime Yatate. The official staff and cast page distinguishes these roles.

- Part of the HG Series
- Bandai's newest "High Grade (HG)" model kit faithfully reproduces the new Gundam's distinctive form
- Loaded with articulation in the torso, hips, and elsewhere for dynamic posability after assembly!

That division matters: Anno’s involvement connects the series to a prominent Evangelion creator, but the available official credits do not support calling him its director or sole creator.
When did Gundam GQuuuuuuX come out?
The series began Japanese television broadcasts in April 2025, and all 12 episodes aired in Japan, according to Bandai Namco Holdings’ 2025 report. The initial announcement had described a planned TV broadcast; that announcement is now historical rather than a guide to an upcoming release.

For Japan, the official on-air page lists Prime Video and services including Bandai Channel, Gundam Fan Club, ABEMA, Disney+, Hulu, Netflix, and U-NEXT. It also lists ad-supported free viewing on ABEMA and Lemino. This is a Japanese service list, not confirmation that each platform carries the show in other countries or still has it in its catalogue.
Outside Japan, check the streaming services available in your country for the current listing. Confirm the season or episode count, audio and subtitle options, and whether access requires a subscription or is ad-supported before signing up; the broad rollout figures do not identify a service for every territory.

What does the collaboration mean for the Gundam series?
Bandai Namco said the story was intended to bring a Universal Century story to a younger audience. The company also framed collaboration with fans as part of its longer-term approach to the franchise. Naohiro Ogata, director of Bandai Namco Filmworks’ GUNDAM Strategic Business Group & Business Management Room, wrote: “I believe that it is co-creating with fans and leveraging the achievements of such co-creation in the future that will show the path we must take for the Gundam series in order to continue expanding it for generations to come.”
That is the company’s stated strategy, not an independent assessment of the series’ reception. The official corporate report cited above does not establish audience size, ratings, or sales figures, so its international distribution should not be read as proof of those outcomes.
Is there an official GQuuuuuuX model kit?
Yes. The official series goods catalogue lists the HG 1/144 GQuuuuuuX Gunpla model kit alongside other merchandise. It is an optional collectible, not equipment needed to watch the series. The catalogue lists several kinds of goods, so check the product category and exact listing if you are looking for the model kit rather than figures or other merchandise.
