Not as a confirmed fact. Henry Selick has playfully suggested that viewers might find an image of Jack Skellington in every other film he has made, but he explicitly stopped short of saying that is true. Two places he singled out are the underwater sequence in James and the Giant Peach, where Disney confirms a cameo, and breakfast in Coraline, where an egg yolk resembles Jack’s face.
Is Jack Skellington in every Henry Selick movie?
There is no verified inventory showing Jack in every Selick film. In a GamesRadar+ interview, Selick said, “If you look very, very carefully, you might find that there’s some image of Jack in every other film I’ve made. But I can’t legally say that’s true, but it might be true.” The qualification matters: this is a teasing suggestion, not a confirmation that Jack appears in all of his movies.
Selick directed The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), James and the Giant Peach (1996), Monkeybone (2001), and Coraline (2009), according to Focus Features. He later directed Wendell & Wild (2022), as noted by Netflix Tudum. Those credits establish the scope of Selick’s feature work; they do not establish a Jack cameo in each title. In particular, the available confirmation does not settle whether Jack appears in Monkeybone or Wendell & Wild.
Where to look for Jack in James and the Giant Peach
The clearest confirmed cameo is in the underwater sequence of James and the Giant Peach. Disney’s D23 guide says viewers can find “a cameo appearance by Jack Skellington from the earlier film” in that sequence. This is the strongest documented example for anyone rewatching Selick’s films.

What is the Jack image in Coraline?
Selick directed viewers to “look at breakfast in Coraline,” adding that “you might find something in the breakfast.” The reported visual Easter egg is an egg yolk that resembles Jack’s face. It is best described as a likeness or image—not an explicit, confirmed appearance of the character. Selick’s wording leaves the observation deliberately open.

In a BFI/Sight and Sound interview, Selick described Jack’s head as a simple design animated through complete head replacements: “Coming on to Jack Skellington [from The Nightmare Before Christmas]: he’s basically like the Pillsbury Doughboy. The whole head gets replaced – it’s a very simple design.” He added, “I love the idea of: what can you convey with that limitation?”

That comment explains the stop-motion approach to Jack’s expressions; it is not evidence for additional cameos. The useful distinction is between a confirmed cameo in James and the Giant Peach, a face-like breakfast image in Coraline, and Selick’s broader, unconfirmed hint about his films.
