The cast of Dimension 20: Never Stop Blowing Up remembers the Dome as a place for cold rooms, personal game-day rituals and a constant balancing act between making a big joke and listening to one another. Their accounts are individual recollections, not a technical description of the set or a universal account of filming.
Six players, two versions of every character
Never Stop Blowing Up follows six video-store clerks pulled into a world shaped by 1980s action movies. Brennan Lee Mulligan is the Game Master; the players are Ally Beardsley, Ify Nwadiwe, Isabella Roland, Rekha Shankar, Alex Song-Xia and Jacob Wysocki. Each plays an ordinary-world character and an action-world counterpart, a setup Mulligan introduced in his official season announcement.
The paired roles are Russell Feeld and Jennifer Drips (Beardsley), Wendell Morris and Vic Ethanol (Nwadiwe), Paula Donvalson and Jack Manhattan (Roland), Usha Rao and G13 (Shankar), Liv Skyler and Kingskin (Song-Xia), and Andy “Dang” Litefoot and Greg Stocks (Wysocki). The season uses a homebrew rules system heavily inspired by Hunters Entertainment’s Kids on Bikes, rather than simply running on Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition.
The Dome, as the cast remembers it
Rekha Shankar: cold, tea and the challenge of listening
Shankar gave a plain answer about what she needed on filming days: “I absolutely need some sort of non-caffeinated tea because the Dome is very cold.” She also mentioned bringing notebook paper, hoping to get more comfortable with the game’s mechanics and take notes.

But note-taking had a trade-off. Shankar said she wanted to share focus and listen more, especially because this was “specifically the all goofball season.” In her account, preparation was not just about keeping track of rules; it was also about staying present with a group built for comic escalation. She later said the Kids on Brooms system felt simpler to her than D&D 5E. That is her personal assessment of the systems, not a general ranking of them.
Alex Song-Xia: snacks, a fidget and familiar dice
Song-Xia’s game-day kit was coffee, gummy snacks and a fidget toy. They also recalled borrowing another player’s dice during a stretch of poor rolls, then deciding they preferred using their own. It is a small, recognizable bit of table superstition, not evidence of a particular dice brand or production ritual.

Isabella Roland: trust the genre, then follow the room
Roland said they leaned on their existing knowledge of action stories and expected the other players to spark ideas. “For the action stuff, I just trusted that I had a base knowledge and that I’d be inspired by the other players,” they told STARBURST Magazine. Their viewing preparation included Empire Records—which they acknowledged is not an action movie—suggesting a loose, playful approach rather than a prescribed watchlist.
Making room for chaos in an ensemble
The show’s action-film premise invites outsized choices, and cast members described different ways of meeting that energy. Song-Xia called themself one of the “wild cards” and hoped to rise to the occasion of the chaos and mayhem; Roland said going big and being crazy was a comfort zone. Those are descriptions of their own performance instincts, not a production rule everyone followed.

The tension is not simply between serious play and comedy: in a collaborative game, a performer can commit to a huge bit while still leaving room for a fellow player’s choice or joke. The cast’s recollections make the Dome sound less like a single shared routine than a room where each person found their own way into the season’s high-energy style.
