Has another Jurassic World movie been confirmed?
No next film is confirmed in the official Universal and NBCUniversal materials cited here. That is a careful statement about what those sources announce, not proof that no development or reporting exists elsewhere. A strong box office is evidence of audience demand, but it is not the same as a greenlight, production start or release date.
How successful was Jurassic World Rebirth?
Comcast reported that Jurassic World Rebirth opened to $322.6 million worldwide and called it the biggest global opening of 2025 at the time of its announcement. Comcast’s opening announcement is a studio-parent-company figure, not an independently stated final lifetime gross.
NBCUniversal later said the film had passed $600 million worldwide and was the fourth biggest global film of 2025 at the time of that report. The ranking and total are time-bound: they should not be read as a final lifetime total. NBCUniversal’s report also covers increased viewership for the wider franchise on Peacock.

The Associated Press reported a different opening figure: $318.3 million over five days, based on studio estimates. That report and Comcast’s $322.6 million global-opening announcement reflect different reporting snapshots or definitions, so the figures should not be combined or treated as interchangeable. The AP report also quoted Universal domestic distribution chief Jim Orr praising the film as a summer adventure; that promotional assessment is not an announcement of a sequel.
Why a continuation is plausible—but not certain
Universal described Rebirth as a new direction for the series after the previous Jurassic World trilogy. Gareth Edwards directed the film and David Koepp wrote it, according to the official Universal film page. Separately, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment said in 2025 that the broader Jurassic franchise had generated more than $6.7 billion in worldwide box office. That franchise-wide figure, alongside Rebirth’s reported performance, helps explain why another installment could make commercial sense. It does not establish that one has been approved.

What Universal has announced about Rebirth
Universal Pictures Home Entertainment announced Jurassic World Rebirth for 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD, with a September 9, 2025 release date. Universal Products & Experiences also announced film-related licensed merchandise, including toys, apparel, accessories and a Roarin’ T. rex interactive plush. These are home-video and merchandise announcements, not evidence of a next movie.

What to watch for next
A formal announcement from Universal—such as confirmation of a new film, its creative team or a production schedule—would establish a sequel’s status more clearly than box-office performance or merchandise activity. Until such an announcement appears, the accurate answer is that Rebirth gives the franchise a strong commercial basis to continue, but the next film is not confirmed by the official sources cited here.
