The first new Friday the 13th production in 16 years is a television prequel, not a new feature film. Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane announced in October 2025 that Crystal Lake had wrapped filming. Peacock currently lists the eight-episode series for October 15, 2026, in the United States.
What did the creator announce?
Kane announced the filming wrap in October 2025. Bloody Disgusting reported the update on October 20 and quoted his Instagram post: “Crystal Lake wrap party was epic!” The report describes filming as wrapped; it does not say that post-production was finished at that point.
What is Crystal Lake?
Crystal Lake is an eight-episode prequel series in the Friday the 13th franchise. Peacock describes it as a retelling of the origin story through Pam Voorhees, placing the series before the events of the familiar films rather than presenting it as a new theatrical installment.
When and where can you watch it?
Peacock’s current series guide lists Crystal Lake for October 15, 2026, and identifies Peacock as its exclusive US platform. Peacock’s fall schedule gives the same date. Release schedules can change, so check Peacock’s listing near the premiere.
