Tanjiro Kamado’s last disclosed formal rank in the Demon Slayer Corps is Hinoe. He is not stated to become a Hashira. Because the Corps disbands at the manga’s ending, there is no later Corps rank to call his “current” one.
Tanjiro’s last disclosed rank is Hinoe
The Hinoe rank is reported in an indexed reference to Koyoharu Gotouge’s second official fanbook, which includes a profile for Tanjiro. Shueisha’s catalog confirms the book’s publication and contents, but its public listing does not display the specific rank entry. The exact rank is therefore attributed to the fanbook through that secondary reference, rather than directly verified by the catalog page.
Shueisha lists 鬼滅の刃公式ファンブック 鬼殺隊見聞録・弐 as authored by Koyoharu Gotouge and published on February 4, 2021. Its listing notes Tanjiro’s profile and additional character information: Shueisha’s official catalog entry.
Hinoe is a formal rank, not a measure of every feat
The Corps’ formal rank and a swordsman’s demonstrated ability are different things. Tanjiro’s combat accomplishments do not, by themselves, establish that he received a higher formal rank. The fanbook-reported Hinoe designation is the last disclosed rank; no later promotion is stated in the cited material.

Tanjiro is not stated to become a Hashira
Hashira is a distinct title for the Corps’ highest-ranking swordsmen, not simply another word for a powerful fighter. The available canon references do not state that Tanjiro became a Hashira, so his achievements should not be used to infer that he held the title.
Why “current rank” means his last rank before the Corps ended
Chapter 204 is part of the manga’s concluding sequence. An indexed chapter summary reports that the Demon Slayer Corps disbands at the end, so “current rank” is best understood as the last rank disclosed while the organization still existed. VIZ’s official listing identifies chapter 204; the disbandment detail is corroborated by the indexed secondary summary rather than exposed in searchable text on VIZ’s page.
