Why popularity rankings differ
A poll ranking depends on who could vote, where they were voting, and when the poll took place. Earlier results illustrate the point: VIZ reported a poll with more than 100,000 voters in 2018. Its North American top four were Bakugo, Midoriya, Todoroki, and Kirishima; the Japanese top four printed alongside it were Bakugo, Todoroki, Midoriya, and Hawks. The full historical top tens also differed. These results are useful context, but they should not be combined with the 2024 global poll into one blended ranking. See VIZ’s 2018 poll results.
Shueisha’s ninth character poll page documents another distinct Japanese poll, including its ballot rules. Its results belong to that poll’s own context rather than the 2024 worldwide list.

- It can tell you: Bakugo led the reported 2024 main-stage results, followed by Midoriya and Todoroki, and the published results confirm placements through 20th.
- It cannot tell you: which characters are objectively best, who would win in a story-world hero ranking, or the verified order of places 21–30.
