Prop master Laura Roeper says the close-ups underline the series’ relentless focus on time; several watches also signal a character’s status or changing professional identity. The clearest confirmed identifications are Marcus’s Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80, Luca’s Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra and Chef Andrea Terry’s men’s Rolex Submariner.
Why are there so many watches in The Bear?
“The reason for the watches and the close-ups is because the entire show is based on time: every second counts,” prop master Laura Roeper told GQ on July 9, 2024. In a restaurant, a watch can be both a practical tool for timing tasks and a status symbol. Roeper described watches as a significant part of fine-dining and chef culture, so their presence fits the characters’ working world as well as the show’s central pressure.
That distinction matters when reading the details on screen: a watch can communicate what a character does, where they stand professionally, or how their circumstances have changed. Roeper specifically describes Marcus’s watch as a more refined, aspirational move from the vintage G-Shock he wore earlier in the series, and Luca’s watch as reflecting a different professional “game.”
What watch does Marcus wear in The Bear?
Marcus Brooks wears a Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80, identified by Roeper in the GQ interview. She frames it as a step up in refinement and aspiration from his earlier vintage G-Shock. The interview identifies the model family, but does not give an exact reference or variant.

What watch does Luca wear?
Luca wears an Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra, according to Roeper. She connects his watch to his changed professional standing. The interview does not specify an exact reference, so the identification should not be narrowed to a particular dial, case size or configuration.
What watch does Chef Terry wear?
Chef Andrea Terry wears a men’s Rolex Submariner. Roeper says the watch was fitted three times to suit Olivia Colman’s wrist. Its selection was deliberate and drew inspiration from the culinary industry. GQ does not identify a precise Submariner reference.

Which watches appear on the chefs in the montage?
Roeper says chefs Daniel Boulud and Thomas Keller wore their own watches in the montage: Boulud’s was a Rolex GMT-Master, and Keller’s was a Rolex Daytona. Those are the model-family identifications in the GQ interview. A separate Time+Tide Season 3 roundup, published July 14, 2024, gives more specific references—GMT-Master 116713LN for Boulud and white-gold Daytona 126519LN for Keller. Those finer details come from the roundup, not Roeper’s interview.
What watches do Cicero and David Fields wear?
Time+Tide identifies Cicero, also known as Uncle Jimmy, with a Breitling Datora 42 featuring a copper- or salmon-colored dial. This is the watch publication’s identification, not a confirmation from the show’s prop master.

For David Fields, the roundup identifies a Breitling Chronomat but signals uncertainty about the exact model. It calls the proposed Super Chronomat 44 Four-Year Calendar identification “almost certain,” rather than definitive. Treat that specific reference as a tentative visual identification, not a confirmed screen-used model.

How Season 3 frames the watch details
The watches appear against a story about keeping a restaurant alive while trying to take it to a higher level. Disney’s May 10, 2024 UK press announcement described Season 3 as following Carmy, Sydney and Richie as they work to elevate the restaurant and keep it in business. The release date in that announcement—June 27, 2024, with all episodes available at premiere—applies to the UK, not every territory or current streaming catalogue.
