“Choice,” the seventh episode of The Acolyte, revisits the Brendok tragedy from the Jedi’s point of view and reveals that Osha and Mae are not ordinary sisters: they are one consciousness in two separate bodies. The new perspective changes what viewers know about the Jedi’s choices, but it does not erase the coven’s role or make one person solely responsible for the disaster.

What truth does the episode reveal about Osha and Mae?
The Jedi discover that Osha and Mae are “not sisters in the usual sense”: they share one biological identity, with a single consciousness existing in two bodies. The episode guide describes the revelation as a shock about the twins’ bloodline; StarWars.com’s highlights from “Choice” makes the shared-consciousness detail explicit.
This changes the stakes of the Brendok story. The twins’ connection is not simply a close sibling bond, and their separation is bound up with what the Jedi learn about them and the coven. The episode introduces the fact as a revelation rather than resolving every question about how the twins came to exist.

What happened on Brendok?
Episode 7 revisits the events previously shown from the twins’ and coven’s side, now following the Jedi. The shift recalls the structure of Akira Kurosawa’s Rashomon: a familiar event is reconsidered through another group’s perceptions, fears, and choices. Neither account should be treated as a complete, neutral record of everything that happened.
The Jedi arrive at the fortress
Indara, Torbin, Kelnacca, and Sol investigate the vergence and encounter the coven. Their presence and their interpretation of what they see become part of the conflict. The return to the scene gives more context for the Jedi’s actions, but it does not turn their perspective into an objective verdict.

Fear and confrontation escalate
Torbin’s anxiety drives him back toward the fortress. Mae starts a fire, and a battle breaks out between the Jedi and the coven. Torbin is disfigured in the course of the events. The episode presents these actions as part of an escalating chain, rather than as a single isolated cause.
The tragedy leaves the Jedi with a secret
Mother Aniseya and most of the coven die. The Jedi leave with a terrible secret, as the official episode guide puts it. The episode therefore complicates blame: Mae’s fire matters, but so do Torbin’s fears and the choices made during the Jedi-coven confrontation. The official highlights also note that the coven is not without blame.
Why tell the story from the Jedi’s perspective?
The change in viewpoint is the episode’s central move. Episode 3 established the Brendok events through the twins’ experience; “Choice” revisits them to show what the Jedi perceived and feared. That added context can make earlier actions look different without making the first account meaningless. Instead, viewers have to weigh competing understandings of the same catastrophe and notice what each side did not know—or did not see.
The episode’s framing centers on truth and justice, not a simple reversal in which one group is suddenly wholly innocent. Its title also points toward decisions made under pressure: the crisis grows from choices by multiple people, and the consequences outlast the night on Brendok.
