There is no single agreed-upon winner for Spring 2025: Filmarks ranked Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc first by viewer satisfaction, while Anime Corner’s weighted fan poll put Umamusume: Cinderella Gray at the top. This list brings together the two rankings and offers ten picks across different tastes, rather than treating either source as a universal verdict.
How this ranking works
Spring 2025 covers anime that began broadcasting or streaming from March 1 through May 31, 2025, under Filmarks’ season definition. Filmarks ranked eligible shows by member satisfaction scores out of five, using service data as of June 30, 2025; a show needed at least 500 reviews to qualify, and review count broke ties. Filmarks’ results and methodology therefore reflect satisfaction among its reviewers, not a representative survey of all anime viewers.

Anime Corner’s season-end results combine its final Anime of the Season poll, held June 29 through July 8, with 12 weekly polls run from April 4 through June 27. The final poll counted for 55% of its result and weekly rankings for 45%. Anime Corner reports 56,291 participants across the poll process; that figure should not be read as a verified count of unique individuals, since its weekly-poll methodology describes individuals using unique recorded IP addresses.
The ten picks below are ordered by Anime Corner’s weighted ranking, with Filmarks’ satisfaction scores included where the title also made its top ten. That gives the list a clear order while showing where a different measurement system reaches a different result. Neither ranking measures every viewer’s preferences, and a lower position is not a reason to dismiss a series that fits your taste.

The 10 best Spring 2025 anime
1. Umamusume: Cinderella Gray
Anime Corner ranked this sports-focused entry first, with 5.71% of its weighted result. Filmarks placed it second, giving it a satisfaction score of 4.45 out of five from 849 reviews. Its strong showing across two different systems makes it one of the season’s clearest cross-list recommendations. It is a natural pick if you want competitive momentum and a story centered on athletic ambition.
2. The Apothecary Diaries Season 2
Anime Corner put the second season in its runner-up position, at 5.03%. This is a continuing installment rather than a starting point: viewers unfamiliar with the series should begin with Season 1 to follow its characters and ongoing story. It suits viewers looking for a returning drama rather than a wholly new premise.
Rank #2
3. To Be Hero X
At 4.52%, To Be Hero X took third in Anime Corner’s weighted ranking. The list places it among the season’s strongest poll performers, but the ranking itself does not say whether its style or tone will work for a particular viewer. Choose it if you want to explore a distinct series rather than defaulting only to familiar franchises.
4. The Shiunji Family Children
Anime Corner ranked The Shiunji Family Children fourth, with a 4.20% share. Its place in the top four signals a substantial showing in that poll, though the result is not a measure of critical consensus. It offers an alternative to the season’s most prominent action and sports picks.

Rank #3
5. Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc
This is the biggest example of how rankings can diverge: Filmarks ranked it first, with a satisfaction score of 4.54 out of five from 777 reviews, while Anime Corner placed it fifth at 3.23%. Filmarks identifies it as the seventh anime installment in the Black Butler series, so newcomers should start earlier in the franchise rather than treating this arc as a standalone entry. The Black Butler manga series had worldwide cumulative circulation of 36 million copies, according to Tsumiki Inc. / Filmarks in 2025; that is a series-wide manga figure, not an anime audience or an individual-volume total.
6. Fire Force Season 3, Part 1
Anime Corner ranked Fire Force Season 3 sixth, with a 3.22% share. Filmarks also included it in its top ten: fifth place, with a 4.27 satisfaction score from 986 reviews. Because this is a later season, viewers who have not followed the earlier installments should catch up first. Its presence on both lists makes it a strong choice for returning fans, even though it did not place near the top of Anime Corner’s poll.
Rank #4
7. Witch Watch
Witch Watch ranked seventh in Anime Corner’s results, with a 2.95% share. The poll position is a useful popularity signal, not a prediction of whether its humor or character dynamics will appeal to you. Consider it if you want a change of pace from the season’s more action-driven options.
8. My Hero Academia: Vigilantes
Anime Corner placed My Hero Academia: Vigilantes eighth, at 2.70%. As a franchise-connected entry, it is worth checking whether you want the broader My Hero Academia context before starting; the season ranking does not provide a newcomer guide or establish how much prior knowledge is required. Its position makes it a poll-backed option for viewers interested in the franchise.

9. Can a Boy-Girl Friendship Survive?
This series finished ninth in Anime Corner’s weighted ranking, with a 2.65% share. Its position gives it a place among the season’s ten leading poll results, but it should be judged on whether its premise suits your interests, not only on its numerical rank.
10. Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho
Rounding out Anime Corner’s top ten, Sword of the Demon Hunter: Kijin Gentosho earned a 2.60% share. It is a useful pick for viewers looking beyond the most prominent poll leaders. The ranking says where it placed in this particular combined vote; it does not establish a universal order of quality.

Only two titles from Filmarks’ top ten appear in Anime Corner’s top five: Umamusume: Cinderella Gray and Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc. Their positions show the difference between a user-satisfaction list and a weighted popularity poll. Filmarks’ leading three were Black Butler (4.54), Umamusume (4.45), and Lycoris Recoil: Friends are thieves of time. (4.33); Anime Corner’s first three were Umamusume (5.71%), The Apothecary Diaries Season 2 (5.03%), and To Be Hero X (4.52%).
The lists also surface worthwhile recommendations beyond the ten above. Filmarks’ remaining top-ranked titles were Shoshimin: How to Become Ordinary Season 2 (fourth, 4.27), Apocalypse Hotel (sixth, 4.26), Yaiba: Samurai Legend (seventh, 4.26), Everyday Host (eighth, 4.23), A Ninja and an Assassin Under One Roof (ninth, 4.19), and Food for the Soul (tenth, 4.16). Anime Corner’s remaining top-ten titles are covered above. The rankings use the titles and figures reported by each source; distributor spellings and romanizations may vary.

How to choose what to watch
- Want the strongest cross-list signal? Start with Umamusume: Cinderella Gray or Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc; both appeared in the top five of each ranking.
- Following an existing series? The Apothecary Diaries Season 2, Black Butler: Emerald Witch Arc, and Fire Force Season 3 continue earlier installments. My Hero Academia: Vigilantes is connected to an established franchise.
