But that does not prove it outperformed Landman overall: the available Landman figures cover different time periods and measures, so the headline claim that it was “left in the dust” goes too far.
How many people watched Dutton Ranch in its first week?
Paramount+ reported that Dutton Ranch generated 12.9 million global views during the seven days after its May 15, 2026 premiere. In a May 26 announcement, the service called it the biggest original-series launch in Paramount+ history. The number is a platform-reported measure, not an independently audited count of unique people: Paramount defines a “view” as total minutes watched divided by the program’s runtime. Paramount+’s announcement describes its global internal-metrics coverage as including domestic direct-to-consumer, channels and wholesale/MVPD/vMVPD data, and international direct-to-consumer plus availability-based data streams.

Paramount also reported a separate U.S. ranking: for the week of May 11, 2026, Nielsen preliminary data ranked Dutton Ranch No. 1 among streaming series by average audience among people age 2 and older watching through television, Live + Same Day. That Nielsen result has a different geography, audience measure and viewing scope from Paramount+’s global seven-day views figure.
Did Dutton Ranch beat Landman on streaming?
The published numbers do not establish a like-for-like winner. Paramount said the Landman season-two premiere episode drew more than 9.2 million global streaming views in its first two days, following its November 16, 2025 premiere. That is an episode-level result over two days, while Dutton Ranch’s 12.9 million figure covers the series’ first seven days. A comparison that omits those different windows would be misleading.
#1 Best Overall
There is also a broader Landman claim: Paramount Skydance described it as Paramount+’s most-watched series in its history in its Q1 2026 filing. That is a company-reported, series-level historical claim, not the same metric as a new show’s first-week launch total. The filing does not provide a directly comparable Landman seven-day figure in the figures cited here. Paramount Skydance’s Q1 2026 filing and Paramount’s Landman season-two premiere announcement therefore support different conclusions: Dutton Ranch set a Paramount+ launch record, while Landman remains a company-described all-time platform leader.
| Series claim | Reported figure | What it measures |
|---|---|---|
| Dutton Ranch | 12.9 million global views | First seven days after its May 15, 2026 premiere; Paramount+ internal metrics, with “views” defined as minutes watched divided by runtime. |
| Landman season two | More than 9.2 million global streaming views | Its premiere episode’s first two days after the November 16, 2025 premiere; Paramount-reported episode figure. |
| Landman overall | Called Paramount+’s most-watched series in its history | Company-reported historical series-level claim in Paramount Skydance’s Q1 2026 filing; no directly comparable window or count is stated here. |
What does the launch record actually mean?
The record claim is specifically about the biggest original-series launch in Paramount+ history, as Paramount+ described it in its May 26, 2026 announcement. It is not evidence that Dutton Ranch surpassed every earlier Paramount+ series by total audience, nor does it compare total viewing across the shows’ full runs. The 12.9 million figure should also be read as the platform’s defined “views” metric rather than 12.9 million confirmed individual subscribers or unique viewers.

All of these performance statements come from the companies’ own announcements or filings. The figures are useful for understanding what Paramount says about its streaming performance, but they are not an independent, cross-platform audit.
Is Dutton Ranch the first Yellowstone spin-off of 2026?
Dutton Ranch premiered on May 15, 2026, and Paramount’s announcement identifies it as a series following Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, played by Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser. However, the available dated source establishes its launch, not that it was the first Yellowstone spin-off to premiere in 2026. Paramount Skydance’s Q1 2026 filing also reports 18.5 million global viewers for Marshals, but that figure alone does not establish the show’s premiere date or its precise franchise chronology. The word “first” is therefore not verified by the cited information.

The same filing reported 12.5 million global viewers for The Madison in its first month. That monthly audience figure provides wider context for Sheridan-related programming on the service, but it cannot be ranked directly against Dutton Ranch’s first-week views because the time window and measure differ.
