What Taco Bell announced in January 2026
The January return paired the regular Crispy Chicken Nuggets with a new dipping sauce, Hidden Valley Diablo Ranch. Taco Bell described the nuggets as all-white-meat chicken coated in tortilla-chip-flaked breading. It described the sauce as combining Hidden Valley Ranch’s creamy flavor with the smoky heat of its Diablo sauce. The offer was announced for participating Taco Bell locations nationwide and in the app, starting January 22, 2026. Taco Bell’s January announcement also quoted Hidden Valley’s Michelle Amador saying the goal was to give familiar ranch a “fiery upgrade”; that is a promotional statement from a company partner, not an independent assessment.

How the January sauce pairing differs from the April item
In April 2026, Taco Bell announced a distinct item: Diablo Dusted Crispy Chicken Nuggets. Instead of serving Diablo flavor only as a dipping sauce, Taco Bell said it applied Diablo seasoning as a dust to the tortilla-chip-breaded nuggets. The limited-time offer began April 16, with Hidden Valley Diablo Ranch, Bell Sauce, and Jalapeño Honey Mustard listed as sauce pairings. That April promotion should not be confused with January’s return of regular nuggets served with Diablo Ranch. The April announcement did not establish whether either offer remains available locally now. Taco Bell’s April announcement quoted its Global Chief Food Innovation Officer describing the dust as a new way to deliver Diablo’s heat; this, too, is the company’s promotional view.

How the nuggets became a recurring Taco Bell promotion
The original Crispy Chicken Nuggets launched in December 2024 with Hidden Valley Fire Ranch, Bell Sauce, and Jalapeño Honey Mustard. Taco Bell said it tested more than 100 sauces while selecting that first lineup. The launch announcement provides the original sauce context.
In April 2025, Taco Bell said the December launch had sold out nationwide in less than a week and described a goal of making crispy chicken a permanent menu presence by 2026. That was an ambition stated at the time, not proof that the nuggets or Diablo Ranch are permanently available. Taco Bell’s 2025 update is the source for the sell-out and stated plan.

In its January 2026 announcement, Taco Bell reported more than 70 million crispy chicken menu items sold since launch and said nearly a quarter of new customers came to the brand through crispy chicken in 2025. These are company-reported figures, not independently validated statistics in the cited announcements.
