Reports published on May 26, 2022, said that Australian TV presenter Erin Jayne Plummer had died by suicide after struggling with her mental health. Those reports attributed the account to friends; the sources reviewed do not establish an official coroner’s finding.
What later reports said about Erin Jayne Plummer’s death
PerthNow reported on May 26, 2022, citing a Daily Mail report about statements from friends, that Plummer had taken her own life following a struggle with mental health. New Idea also described the cause as confirmed while recounting tributes, but it was secondary coverage rather than an official determination. PerthNow’s report and New Idea’s coverage should therefore be understood as attributed press reporting.

Why early reports said the cause was unknown
Initial coverage said Plummer had died suddenly at 42 and that her cause of death had not been made public. The New Zealand Herald reported this on May 25, 2022, republishing a news.com.au report; 7NEWS likewise said the cause had not been made public in its May 2022 coverage. The later reports appeared the following day and attributed their account to friends. The available reporting does not establish that an official finding was announced in the meantime.
