Mike Fulton in Punky Brewster
Carter also played teacher Mike Fulton in the 1980s sitcom Punky Brewster, a very different kind of role from the one he played in Carpenter’s horror film. The contrast reflects the range of work he took on across television and film.
A career across film and television
Carter’s credits extended beyond those two best-known parts. Selected film appearances included Runaway Train (1985), Ski Patrol (1990) and Space Jam (1996), according to the AP. Forbes also noted early television work on Police Woman and later appearances on The Sinbad Show and The Steve Harvey Show. These are examples from a longer career, not a complete filmography.
