Jaime Dugan said she stopped watching Survivor: China after a few episodes because she was angry about how the show edited her. In a 2020 interview, she said she believed the broadcast left out her alliances and strategic decisions; that is her account of her portrayal, not an independently verified assessment of the edit.
What Jaime Dugan said about her edit
Asked how she felt about her portrayal, Dugan told Entertainment Weekly on July 30, 2020: “It was bulls—. Am I allowed to say that? I had an alliance with every single person on my tribe (they never showed that) and I was very strategic in the moves I made. I feel like that was lost in the editing room. I actually stopped watching my season after a few episodes because I was so mad at the way it was edited. I’ve never watched my entire season.”

Her statement is specific: she watched a few episodes, then stopped, and said she had never seen the whole season. Separately, when asked about watching the franchise afterward, she said she did not and needed to start watching again.
What she said during the season’s original run
In a November 2, 2007 interview with Reality TV World, shortly after her elimination, Dugan described strategic and social concerns she said shaped her game. She recalled that her original tribe, Zhan Hu, felt its initial matchup was unfair; discussed plans to throw challenges and expectations about swapped tribe members; and said she worried about being targeted after the merge. She also said she sensed she was going home before Tribal Council.

Dugan also explained why she played a wooden plaque at Tribal Council despite realizing it was the wrong item: she hoped the move might make Todd Herzog think she had an immunity idol and redirect votes. These remarks provide contemporaneous context for her account of thinking strategically, but they do not establish whether the broadcast omitted particular alliances or decisions.

The 2020 interview documents Dugan’s frustration and her view that the edit did not show the alliances and strategy she remembered. The available interviews do not include a production-side explanation or an independent comparison of unaired footage with the broadcast episodes, so her criticism should be understood as her own account rather than a confirmed finding about what editors left out.

For Dugan, the consequence was that she stopped watching her season before finishing it. Her 2007 comments offer a glimpse of how she described her decisions at the time, while the later interview explains why she was unhappy with the version of her game she saw on screen.
