Is the January 23 cozy mystery e-book event happening?
The Cozy Mystery Book Club’s Book Blast page currently says, “The summer edition of the Cozy Mystery eBook Blast has ended. Check back in October for our next book blast!” The page has a 2026 copyright footer. That confirms an ended summer edition and points to October; it does not confirm a January 23 event or identify any books for one.
The organizer’s homepage lists a 2026 featured-author roster, including Lucy Lakestone for October. It describes her Scoop and Scandal as a low-spice funny romantic mystery with mild cursing and closed-door canoodling. That is an example of the organizer’s author features, not evidence that this title is part of a January promotion or currently free.
A separate January 23–25 Frost and Flame promotion described in a January 14, 2026 overview covers science fiction, horror, and genre blending—not cozy mysteries. Event dates and genres belong to particular organizers and campaigns, so that listing does not verify a Cozy Mystery Book Club event. Read the overview.

How to check for eligible books and claim one
- Open the Cozy Mystery Book Club Book Blast page. Confirm that the edition you want is live and that its category matches contemporary cozy mystery.
- Choose a listed book and follow its link to a retailer you use. A prior event description said readers could choose their preferred retailer, so Amazon is not necessarily the only option. The historical discussion reproducing that wording also cautioned that availability could vary by region.
- Check the ebook’s displayed price on the retailer page for your own account and region before selecting it. If the page does not show a free price, do not assume the book is included at no cost.
- Complete the retailer’s claim or purchase flow and check that the ebook has been added to your library. Recheck the listing if you return later; the available pages do not establish a specific promotion duration.
Do you need a Kindle?
No. The organizer’s prior event wording allowed readers to use their preferred retailer, and the available information does not make owning a Kindle a condition of participation. A Kindle device is one way to read a Kindle edition; other retailer apps or compatible devices may work for editions sold elsewhere. Check the book’s listing and your device’s compatibility before claiming it.
