Spoilers for the Kaiju No. 8 anime and manga. Of the numbered weapons, the official anime episode page explicitly calls Numbers Weapon 6 “the most powerful and dangerous of them all.” Reno Ichikawa is chosen to wield it after a trial period. That is the clearest direct answer—but it is not a universal ranking of every weapon or fighter, and the sources do not publish comparable power statistics for the full arsenal.
Why Numbers Weapon 6 has the strongest official claim
The official episode summary for “Wall” (Episode 19) says Reno Ichikawa has been chosen to wield Numbers Weapon 6, “the most powerful and dangerous of them all.” The wording ranks it among the numbered weapons; it does not compare it with every weapon used against kaiju. The page also says Reno completed a trial period set by Fourth Division commander Jugo Ogata before his first battle with it. It gives no numeric power rating or full account of the weapon’s mechanics. Read the official Episode 19 summary.
How the other prominent weapons compare
Official material identifies several important users, but it does not establish a definitive overall order among their weapons. The distinctions that are supported are user identity, combat role, target scale and range—not a single shared power score.
| Weapon or weapon role | Known user | What the official material establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|---|
| Numbers Weapon 6 | Reno Ichikawa | The official Episode 19 summary calls it the most powerful and dangerous numbered weapon. Reno is selected after a trial period set by Jugo Ogata. | No numeric comparison, complete mechanics, or ranking against every weapon. |
| Numbers Weapon 1 | Gen Narumi | An official anime announcement identifies Narumi as its user. Official game profile copy describes Narumi as Japan’s strongest anti-kaiju combatant. | Narumi’s standing as a fighter does not prove Weapon 1 is the strongest weapon. |
| Numbers Weapon 4 | Kikoru Shinomiya; previously wielded by her mother, Hikari | An official announcement identifies Kikoru as the user and notes Hikari’s earlier connection to the weapon. | The sources do not establish that Numbers Weapon 4 and Kikoru’s custom axe are interchangeable. |
| Numbers Weapon 10 | Soshiro Hoshina | An official announcement identifies Hoshina as its user. His official game profile describes him as a blade specialist especially effective against small- and medium-sized kaiju. | The retrieved profile does not detail Numbers Weapon 10’s full capabilities or rank it against other weapons. |
| Mina Ashiro’s sniper weaponry | Mina Ashiro | Her official game profile highlights her ability to neutralize giant-class kaiju with sniper weaponry. | This establishes a range-and-target role, not universal superiority over close-combat weapons. |
Weapon identities and the description of Kikoru’s Numbers Weapon 4 come from an official anime announcement dated September 20, 2025. The role descriptions for Narumi, Hoshina and Mina come from official Kaiju No. 8 The Game character profiles. These are different kinds of evidence: a direct statement about a weapon’s power is not the same as a description of its wielder or combat specialty.

Why “strongest” depends on the matchup
- Direct power claim: Numbers Weapon 6 is the only weapon in these sources explicitly called the most powerful and dangerous numbered weapon.
- Target scale: Mina’s sniper role is highlighted against giant-class kaiju; Hoshina’s blade specialty is described in relation to small- and medium-sized kaiju.
- Engagement range: Sniper weaponry and blades serve different combat situations, so their roles alone cannot establish which is stronger overall.
- Wielder and compatibility: Reno’s trial period is specifically noted before he uses Weapon 6. The available source does not give a comparable compatibility test or power measure for the other listed weapons.
Gen Narumi is called Japan’s strongest anti-kaiju combatant in official game profile copy. That is a statement about Narumi, not an official ranking of Numbers Weapon 1 above Weapon 6 or the other weapons. Likewise, effectiveness against a particular size of kaiju is not proof of a universal weapon ranking.

The official sources cited here provide no dated, named statistic comparing the combat power of the weapons. The official franchise site’s reference to more than 18 million copies in circulation is not a weapon statistic and does not include a publication year in the retrieved text. For the series itself, the VIZ series page lists Volume 16 as the final volume; readers following the anime should expect manga-complete discussion to extend beyond the episodes covered by the Episode 19 summary.
