No verified “Snyder Cut” of Stranger Things Season 5 has been announced. The claim circulated as a fan rumor tied to an unsourced online document and interpretations of the released episodes—not confirmed evidence of footage Netflix withheld. Actor Randy Havens, who plays Mr. Clarke, denied that a secret cut exists in an Instagram Story. That is his statement, not an official Netflix or Duffer Brothers announcement.
What fans mean by a “Snyder Cut”
The phrase refers to a campaign asking Netflix to release an alleged alternate or “uncut” version of Season 5’s Volume 2. Supporters used the hashtag #netflixreleasethevolume2files and called for a “director’s cut” or “unseen footage.” These are campaign demands; they do not establish that another version exists.
Coverage by What’s on Netflix traced the theory to an unsourced document shared online. The report described anonymous sourcing and fan interpretations of story choices and interviews, rather than verifiable production evidence. Claims that scenes were removed or character arcs changed remain allegations, not established facts.
What evidence is there that an alternate cut exists?
The sources available do not verify an alternate cut, identify a completed version, or establish that Netflix withheld footage. The reported gaps between interviews and episodes are fans’ interpretations, not proof of deleted scenes.

- In 1980s Indiana a group of friends witness supernatural forces and government exploits. In searching for answers, they unravel a series of mysteries.
Netflix’s official Stranger Things page lists the series as having five seasons and includes Season 5 material, but it does not announce a separate cut. The sources reviewed also do not establish a direct statement from Netflix or the Duffer Brothers addressing this specific rumor.
That distinction matters: a petition or viral theory can show that viewers want additional material, but it cannot confirm that such material was filmed or assembled. No verified alternate versions are available to compare.

What Randy Havens said
Randy Havens, who plays Scott “Mr. Clarke” Clarke, denied the claim in an Instagram Story. What’s on Netflix reproduced his statement: “There is no Snyder Cut of the show, please don’t believe everything some random ass tells you on the internet.” The Daily Beast and The Independent also reported his denial.
Havens’s post is a named participant’s public response, not an official Netflix statement. It is relevant evidence against treating the rumor as fact, but it should not be misrepresented as a formal announcement from the platform or the show’s creators.

Why the rumor gained traction
Reporting described fans connecting perceived story gaps and interviews to the idea that scenes had been removed. Some of the discussion also reflected hopes for a different resolution of the relationship between Will Byers and Mike Wheeler, according to What’s on Netflix. That is one interpretation reported about part of the campaign, not a view shared by every fan—and it does not show that an alternate scene was filmed.
The evidence behind the claim varies in quality. An official platform or creator announcement would directly establish a release; a named participant’s statement is attributable testimony; contemporaneous news reports document what was said and circulated. Anonymous documents and audience inference are weaker grounds for asserting that a hidden cut exists.

What happened to the petition?
News outlets reported petition figures in late December 2025, but their snapshots differed. The Daily Beast reported at least 300,000 signatures on December 29, 2025; The Independent used a different figure in its December 29 report. These are dated counts, not a settled current total, and signatures measure support for a request—not evidence of unreleased footage.
