The End of an Era, Disney+’s six-episode behind-the-scenes series about Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, revisits the three Vienna shows canceled in August 2024. In the episodes, Swift reflects on the threat Austrian authorities said they had foiled, her fear for the audience and the feeling that the tour had narrowly avoided catastrophe.
What did Taylor Swift say about the Vienna plot?
In its report on the series’ first two episodes, the Associated Press quotes Swift recalling that she never expected the tour to face a terrorist plot: “So never did I think we’d have a terrorist plot.” She also says, “We dodged a massacre situation.”
Swift describes the possibility of harm coming to her audience as a new kind of fear: “Being afraid something is going to happen” to them, she says, “this is a new challenge.” The remarks are her retrospective account in the documentary, as reported by AP.
How does the series connect Vienna to the tour’s return?
AP places Swift’s reflections during preparations to return to the stage in London after the canceled dates. A report from VIENNA.at, drawing on Austria’s APA news agency, adds that Swift says filming for the series was originally meant to begin in Vienna. She describes starting the final European dates after the cancellations as feeling like she was “walking on thin ice.” That production detail is reported as part of her account in the series.

What happened to the Vienna shows in August 2024?
Three sold-out Eras Tour performances scheduled at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium were canceled after Austrian authorities said they had foiled a planned attack. CBS News reported at the time that arrests had been made in connection with the alleged plot. The cancellations are established; allegations about the suspects and their intentions should not be treated as court findings.
Swift’s immediate public response, quoted by CBS, focused on the people who had planned to attend. She wrote that the reason for the cancellations gave her “a new sense of fear” and “a tremendous amount of guilt,” then added: “But I was also so grateful to the authorities because thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives.” The documentary offers a later, on-camera reflection; it does not replace that August 2024 statement.
