Taylor Swift called 2025 “a good year” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, pointing to two life-changing outcomes: her engagement to Travis Kelce and regaining ownership of her music masters. She said both could have failed to happen, which made her especially grateful.
What did Taylor Swift mean by “a good year”?
Swift appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in an interview that aired December 10, 2025. When Colbert recapped her engagement, album and return to ownership of her masters, she agreed: “That’s a good year.” She said getting engaged to “the love of my life” and getting her music back were two things that “just never could have happened.” Rolling Stone’s December 12 recap and ELLE’s coverage report the exchange.

Her point was not simply that the year brought major milestones. She emphasized how uncertain those outcomes had once seemed, and said she felt grateful they came to pass.
Why hearing her old recordings brought mixed emotions
Swift described a complicated response to hearing music she had made before regaining the masters. Listening to “…Ready for It?” could make her think the song “goes so hard” and then cry. She explained the connection between recordings and memory this way: “A recording is such a snapshot of your life.”

What else did Swift discuss?
Life after the Eras Tour
Asked how she winds down after the tour, Swift said a day off could involve different activities, but she would never become a “chill person.” She mentioned making bread and cross-stitching, adding, “Hobbies are incredible.”
Keeping home separate from work
Swift said she prefers not to fill her home with music-industry memorabilia or keep a studio there. She has a piano and guitar at home, and goes to a studio when she wants to work in one.

People she turns to for perspective
Swift named Stevie Nicks, Max Martin and Kelce as people she could consult for perspective on career, friendship and lasting relationships.
Her unfinished top-five song list
Swift did not give a final ranking of her own songs. She said she needed time to complete the list, tentatively putting “All Too Well” (the 10-minute version) at number one and saying “Mirrorball” would appear somewhere. Those were provisional picks, not a completed top five.

What she was promoting on the show
The interview also covered The Life of a Showgirl, Swift’s post-tour routine and upcoming screen projects. She was promoting The End of an Era and The Eras Tour: The Final Show, which the show’s listing and Rolling Stone described at the time as coming to Disney+ on December 12, 2025. That was the announced release date in December 2025; it does not establish their current streaming availability. The official Late Show channel listed Swift’s appearance as the final segment of Colbert’s interview with her.
