Tara Reid filed an online police report on November 25, 2025, alleging that her drink may have been tampered with at a hotel bar in Rosemont, Illinois. Police later said surveillance footage did not show anyone adding anything to or tampering with her drink. Their December 3 update said the investigation remained open while they awaited hospital records; the available reports do not establish a later final disposition.
What Tara Reid reported
According to the account of Reid’s online report published by Us Weekly and additional reporting by Rolling Stone, Reid said she ordered a glass of white wine at the DoubleTree Hotel bar, stepped outside for a cigarette, and returned to find a napkin covering the drink. She said she later remembered waking in a hospital roughly eight hours afterward.
Reid also said a man she had met later sent her videos and that she was willing to prosecute, according to those reports. These are claims and recollections attributed to Reid and her report; they do not establish that her drink was drugged, identify anyone as responsible, or prove that an extortion attempt occurred.
What police said the surveillance showed
Rosemont Public Safety responded to an EMS-related call at the DoubleTree, 5460 River Road, shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Police said Reid was taken to an area hospital. On November 25, Reid spoke with police and the department received her online report. Police said they were communicating with the hotel to gather surveillance video, as CBS Chicago reported.

In a December 3 update, police said video showed Reid at the bar but did not show anyone tampering with or adding anything to her drink. The department said a bartender covered the drink, describing that as standard practice. ABC7 Chicago also reported the department’s statement that the footage showed no tampering.
That surveillance finding is limited to what police said the video showed. It does not establish what caused Reid’s reported condition or rule on every possibility beyond what was visible in the footage.

Why the December 2025 update was not a final answer
Police said on December 3 that they were awaiting hospital records and could not confirm which chemical tests had been conducted. The department described the investigation as open and active at that time. It also said, as quoted by CBS Chicago: “At this time there is no criminal act that has been committed and there is no one we are currently investigating.” That was the department’s reported position on December 3, not evidence of a later final disposition.
The available reports do not establish whether police received the hospital records or subsequently closed the investigation. They also do not report confirmed test results. Accordingly, it would be inaccurate to describe the allegation as a proven drugging or to treat the surveillance statement as a complete determination of what happened.
