Sonia Kruger approached the 2024 TV WEEK Logie Awards with less pressure because she had already won the Gold Logie the year before. She told PerthNow she was grateful to be back, would not be greedy for another win, and did not need “bookends.”
What Kruger meant by a “different mindset”
In an interview published by PerthNow on 4 August 2024, Kruger described the previous year as a “roller-coaster” and said she felt the pressure was off. After winning the Gold Logie in 2023, she was less emotionally invested in whether she would win again.
“It doesn’t really matter what happens, I’m just grateful to be involved again, and having won it last year, I’m not greedy — I don’t need bookends!” she said. The “bookends” remark meant she did not need a second Gold Logie to make the first win feel complete. Her attitude was relaxed, not dismissive: she also said she would have a speech ready in case she won.

Her place at the 2024 ceremony
Kruger returned as the reigning Gold Logie winner. The interview noted that The Voice and Dancing With The Stars had nominations at the 2024 awards. It also reported that she was likely to host Seven’s red-carpet arrivals coverage with Dr Chris Brown.

Kruger praised fellow nominee Larry Emdur, saying, “I can’t believe he’s never been nominated. That’s crazy to me.” She said he would deserve the Gold Logie if she did not win.
Which Logies did the interview mean?
“This year’s Logies” in the interview headline refers to the 2024 awards, not the current year. The 64th TV WEEK Logie Awards were scheduled for broadcast on 18 August 2024, according to the PerthNow article. A later report on the 66th awards in August 2026 confirms that the 2024 interview is historical, rather than current event coverage. The West Australian’s 2026 report covers that later edition.
