Susan Lucci said she was “doing really well” in a March 2023 interview with PEOPLE, following a January 2022 stent procedure. The report also recounts an earlier heart event in 2018. That statement describes how she said she was doing then; the available reports do not establish her health in 2026.
What Susan Lucci said about her recovery
At the 75th Annual Writers Guild Awards in March 2023, Lucci told PEOPLE: “I’m doing really well. I always keep an eye on myself, what’s going on.” PEOPLE’s account was published March 6, 2023, and was republished by Yahoo (PEOPLE report republished by Yahoo). Fox News also reported her recovery update that day (Fox News).
What the reports say happened
The 2018 heart event
PEOPLE’s 2023 account says Lucci experienced chest pressure in 2018 and sought emergency care. She recalled the sensation as “like an elephant pressing down.” The report says doctors found a 90% blockage in a main artery and placed two stents.
The January 2022 procedure
According to the same report, Lucci later experienced shortness of breath, chest discomfort and jaw pain in January 2022. Doctors reportedly found an 80% artery blockage, which the account attributed to cholesterol, and inserted another stent.

How to interpret the blockage figures
The 90% and 80% figures are details reported about Lucci’s individual case. They are not population statistics, and they do not establish general risk or predict another person’s condition. The reports recount her experience; they are not medical records or treatment guidance.
Does this tell us how she is doing now?
No. The latest health statement in these reports is Lucci’s March 2023 comment. It should not be presented as a current 2026 health update. A 2026 Yahoo feature identifies La Lucci as her memoir and gives a February 3, 2026 release date, but does not establish that the book is a medical guide or that it covers these heart procedures (Yahoo feature).
