The available account does not include the full rally remarks or a comparison with the edited clip.
What the report says happened
Mashable, in a report syndicated by Yahoo Entertainment on October 15, 2024, said Colbert played the footage during his Monday monologue, October 14. The report identifies the source as Trump’s Friday, October 11, rally in Reno, Nevada. Read the report on Yahoo Entertainment.
According to the report, Colbert introduced the clip as seeming out of context, replayed it, and invited viewers to imagine Trump meant different things. One of the examples was “poop.” The report attributes to Trump the excerpt “I did three of them today,” followed by references to “a little one,” “a really big one,” and “this one.” It says Colbert joked, “let’s imagine that he’s talking about poop.”
What “out of context” establishes—and what it doesn’t
The phrase describes how the segment was presented in the report: a brief excerpt was replayed and given deliberately absurd alternate interpretations. It is not, by itself, proof that the editing changed Trump’s intended meaning. To assess that, viewers would need to compare the excerpt with the surrounding remarks in the full rally footage and examine what the edit included or left out.
#1 Best Overall
The available report does not provide those full remarks or a side-by-side comparison. It also could not be independently checked against the original broadcast or a complete rally transcript for this account. The quoted lines and description of Colbert’s joke should therefore be understood as details attributed to the report, not as a verified full transcript or a finding about Trump’s intended subject.
