What happens in “Destiny”?
Mae and Osha’s life on Brendok
The story moves 16 years into the past to Brendok. Mae and Osha are young twins and members of a witches’ coven led by their mother, Aniseya. As the girls train to one day lead their community, four Jedi arrive at the coven’s fortress: Master Indara, Padawan Torbin, Wookiee Master Kelnacca, and Jedi Knight Sol.
The Jedi test the twins
The Jedi ask to assess the girls’ Force abilities and their potential to train as Jedi. The witches instruct the twins to fail the test deliberately. Osha instead answers truthfully and passes, receiving an invitation to join the Jedi Order on Coruscant.

The event that separates the sisters
Afraid of losing Osha, Mae locks her sister in their room and starts a fire. The official episode guide describes this event as the turning point that separates their lives; it does not provide a fuller account of the fire’s consequences.
What the flashback adds to the sisters’ story
In its June 12, 2024 analysis, StarWars.com frames “Destiny” as a look at the twins’ bond and tragic past. The contrast is not simply that one sister becomes a Jedi and the other does not: Mae is curious about using her power, while Osha appears less confident in the Force, despite the Jedi path she later takes. The childhood scenes give context to the sisters’ opposing choices without erasing their connection.
Who made the episode?
Kogonada directed episode 103. Leslye Headland created and showran the series, which stars Amandla Stenberg as both Mae and Osha, Lee Jung-jae as Sol, and Manny Jacinto as the Stranger. Michael Abels composed the score. The Lucasfilm production page describes the series as set about 100 years before The Phantom Menace; the episode guide uses the broader era label “The High Republic.”
