Spoilers for all three seasons, including the 2024 series finale. Clone Force 99, better known as the Bad Batch, is a specialist clone unit caught in the shift from the Republic’s Clone War to the Empire. The series follows its members as they struggle to live by more than military orders—and gradually become a family. Here’s who is in the squad, what sets each character apart, and where they end up.

Who is in the Bad Batch?

The original specialist lineup is Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, and Crosshair. Echo joins after Clone Force 99 rescues him during the Clone Wars, and Omega becomes a central member of the group. Each brings a different kind of expertise; the story is as much about how they relate to one another as what they can do in a fight.

Character Role or specialty Temperament and relationship to the team Major turning point or outcome
Hunter Leader and tracker, with heightened senses. He weighs his responsibility to the squad against the dangers of a changing galaxy and becomes determined to protect Omega. After the finale, he returns to Pabu with the surviving squad and lets grown Omega choose her own path.
Wrecker Demolitions specialist and the squad’s physically powerful member. His exuberance and directness balance the others’ more reserved styles. He survives the finale and returns to Pabu with the squad.
Tech Computer and weapons specialist, known for fast analysis. His matter-of-fact approach gives the team a distinct technical perspective. He sacrifices himself during the Season 2 Eriadu mission to save his teammates. His loss shapes the group afterward.
Crosshair Sniper, valued for precision. Cold and calculating, he initially stays with the Empire after the rest of the squad defects, creating the team’s longest-running fracture. He is imprisoned with Omega at Mount Tantiss at the start of Season 3. His eventual reconciliation with the squad makes forgiveness part of the story’s resolution.
Echo Former member of the 501st who joins as the squad’s fifth member after being rescued. His later work with Captain Rex connects him to efforts to help other clones. He is among the surviving squad members who return to Pabu.
Omega A young clone and former medical assistant to Nala Se on Kamino; she also uses an energy bow. Curious, analytical, and compassionate, she changes the squad from a military unit into a family of guardians and brothers. After the squad frees her, grown Omega leaves to join the Rebellion.

How Omega changes the squad

Clone Force 99 begins as a team organized around specialist skills and military orders. Omega’s arrival asks the members to become protectors and family as well as soldiers. Her importance is not limited to carrying a weapon: her curiosity, judgment, and compassion influence how the group understands its responsibilities.

Echo’s work with Rex draws him toward helping other clones, while Tech’s sacrifice forces the surviving members to live with a profound loss. The eventual reconciliation with Crosshair adds another dimension: the squad’s bonds have to survive not only grief, but a long separation shaped by the Empire.

What happens to the Bad Batch at the end?

The third and final season opens with Omega and Crosshair imprisoned at Mount Tantiss while Hunter, Wrecker, and Echo try to recover Omega. In the finale, the squad confronts Hemlock’s operation and frees her. The surviving members make it back to Pabu. In a time-jump epilogue, a grown Omega sets out to join the Rebellion, and Hunter lets her leave.

Tech’s sacrifice is not reversed in the official finale coverage. Voice actor Dee Bradley Baker, who voices the clone characters, described the loss this way in a StarWars.com interview published May 1, 2024: “The loss of Tech hit everyone hard. And this was just for myself, Echo writing out how he looks at this. Because Tech got to finish his life in a way that saved the mission and it saved his team. That’s how I frame it for myself, as this heroic and admirable finish to a well-lived life.” This is Baker’s reflection on the character’s ending, not dialogue from the series.
