The three drinks shared berry flavors and raspberry-flavored pearls: the Summer-Berry Refresher, its lemonade version, and the coconutmilk-based Summer Skies Drink.
What Starbucks’ raspberry pearls were
The “raspberry pearls” were fruit-flavored pearls added to the Summer-Berry lineup for flavor and color. Starbucks beverage developer Simon Vuong said the team initially considered fruit pieces, then chose pearls for a bolder effect and the way they release flavor when they pop. Starbucks’ May 7, 2024 launch story describes them as “juicy raspberry flavored pearls.”
Three Summer-Berry drinks, one shared feature
Starbucks listed three versions. Their shared berry profile and raspberry-flavored pearls distinguished the lineup; the liquid base or mix-in varied.

Starbucks said the team drew on blueberry, blackberry and raspberry flavors. The company did not provide a full ingredient panel or nutritional comparison in the launch story, so the names alone should not be treated as a complete description of each recipe.

Why the drinks were blue—and how they were served
Vuong said the blue color was meant to evoke bright skies and long summer days. Starbucks also said the drinks came with a wider green compostable straw designed for both sipping and stirring, a practical fit for a drink containing pearls. The announcement does not establish that Starbucks sold the straw separately.

The U.S. launch began May 7, 2024, and was described as limited time. Starbucks later announced that the Summer-Berry Refreshers would return beginning May 20, 2025, also for a limited time. That May 19, 2025 return announcement is historical; it does not establish that the drinks are currently available in October 2026. Check the Starbucks menu for current local offerings.
