The story is Star Wars: Padawan’s Pride, a Lucasfilm Press audiobook released on Audible on September 19, 2024—not a new film or series. Set three years after The Phantom Menace, it sends Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi undercover to investigate a missing Republic spy at an underground podracing circuit.
What happens in Padawan’s Pride?
The Jedi Council sends Obi-Wan and Anakin to the Moons of Varl after a Republic spy disappears. They infiltrate a crime boss’s underground podracing operation: Anakin poses as a racer, while Obi-Wan acts as his attendant. When Obi-Wan must leave Varl, Anakin is left to face increasingly dangerous races alone. These details come from the Audible listing’s synopsis.
The setting places the adventure early in Anakin’s time as Obi-Wan’s apprentice, three years after Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. The story therefore draws on the period following Qui-Gon Jinn’s death and the start of Anakin and Obi-Wan’s master-and-apprentice relationship.
Is it a movie, show, or audiobook?
It is an audiobook. Audible lists Star Wars: Padawan’s Pride as a Star Wars Adventures: Audible Original, credited to Lucasfilm Press and Bryan Q. Miller and narrated by Kevin Kemp. The listed runtime is 3 hours 57 minutes, and the release date is September 19, 2024.

The Audible catalog description calls it “a thrilling galactic adventure” starring Obi-Wan and his Padawan Anakin. That is publisher/catalog copy, not a quotation from a named person. The available listing and launch coverage establish the licensed audiobook and its premise; they do not establish an official canon-status statement.

Audible’s listing is the direct place to check current listening and purchase options: Star Wars: Padawan’s Pride on Audible. At launch, Gizmodo reported the audiobook as Audible-exclusive and described access for subscribers or a standalone purchase. The available options, eligibility, and price can vary by marketplace and change over time, so check the listing for your region rather than relying on launch-era pricing.

Is this the same book as Padawan by Kiersten White?
No. Padawan by Kiersten White is a separate story about a younger Obi-Wan during his apprenticeship to Qui-Gon Jinn. Disney Books lists that title in print, ebook, and audio formats, with a July 26, 2022 release date. It is not a print edition of Padawan’s Pride, whose story concerns Anakin and Obi-Wan on the Moons of Varl.
For the separate book’s formats and details, see Disney Books’ Padawan listing.
