Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown has a mixed-to-average critic reception in Metacritic’s surfaced listing: 74/100 from 12 critic reviews, with six of those reviews marked positive. That is a limited, changeable snapshot—not a broad consensus. The reviews point to a strategy game where tension comes from managing Voyager and making consequential choices, while some critics question its voice-over, difficulty, or gameplay variety.
What is the critic score for Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown?
Metacritic lists the game at 74/100 from 12 critic reviews, classifying the result as “Mixed or Average.” The page marks 6 reviews, or 50%, positive. These figures describe the listing as accessed in 2026; its score and review count can change as Metacritic adds or updates reviews. Metacritic’s review page is the source for the displayed aggregate and counts.
The same page shows an 8.1 user score from 32 ratings. That is a separate audience signal, based on a small sample, and should not be combined with or mistaken for the critic score.
What critics are responding to
The game’s premise is a story-driven survival strategy experience. Steam describes the player as taking control of Voyager and managing the ship and its resources, with the fate of the starship in the player’s hands. Metacritic’s summary likewise emphasizes ship and resource management and difficult decisions. The critical question, then, is how well that survival-management structure serves the appeal of a Star Trek story about its ship and crew.
#1 Best Overall
- The Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown – Deluxe Edition includes 5 new mission, 2 new recruitable heroes and 3 new technologies.
- ”What if?” scenario and storytelling: The ultimate platform to play out your course of action during the iconic journey of the U.S.S. Voyager.
- Complex ship management: Repair, construct, and maintain an efficient and habitable ship to ensure systems and crew operate effectively.
- Exploration and decision making: The Delta Quadrant is a fascinating yet perilous place that awaits exploration and demands decisive action.
- Combat and away missions: Use the talents of your crew smartly to minimise risk during away missions as well as strike boldly during ship combat encounters.
That structure appears to be the source of both the game’s appeal and its friction. A surfaced review from Sector.sk praises the tension, strategic decisions, survival challenge, and task of guiding Voyager’s crew home. Other excerpts describe a story-heavy return journey shaped by choices and an FTL-style survival loop. These are individual review impressions, not claims that all critics agreed.
What reservations appear in the reviews?
Some surfaced excerpts raise concerns about missing dialogue voice-over, difficulty, and gameplay variety. Those are reviewers’ criticisms rather than independently established defects, and the available excerpts do not show how widely each concern is shared across the full set of reviews. Metacritic’s PC critic page contains examples of this commentary: PC critic reviews.
Rank #2
For a player, the practical trade-off is between wanting a management-focused survival game—where resource use and decisions drive the journey—and wanting a more conventional, fully voiced narrative adventure or broader variety in play. The score alone cannot tell you which side of that trade-off will matter more to you.
How to read the review score alongside launch-period figures
Jumpgate’s February 23, 2026 press release said the game had sold more than 100,000 copies within four days of launch. The company also reported approximately 75% positive Steam reviews and a Metacritic score of 77 at that time. Those are dated launch-period company statements, not the current Metacritic listing: the surfaced Metacritic aggregate is 74 from 12 critic reviews. The figures differ in date and, in the Steam case, in the type of reception being measured, so they should not be treated as interchangeable.
