The series is Absentia, a psychological thriller starring Stana Katic as FBI Special Agent Emily Byrne. Its appeal to Castle fans is Katic in a very different crime story—not a promise of the same tone or dynamic. Netflix lists three seasons, but whether you can stream them depends on your country’s catalog.
What is Absentia about?
Emily Byrne disappears while pursuing a serial killer and is declared dead in absentia. Six years later, she is found alive, but returning home does not restore her former life: her family has moved on, and she becomes a suspect in a new crime. She also tries to help former colleagues investigate what happened to her.

Netflix Tudum’s guide, written by Krutika Mallikarjuna, captures the premise this way: “Imagine being accused of your kidnapper’s crimes.” Read the guide on Netflix Tudum.
Why might Castle fans be interested?
The connection is Stana Katic. In Castle, she is known for a crime-centered role; in Absentia, she plays an FBI agent whose disappearance and return put her at the center of a psychological thriller. The shift in premise matters: the available official descriptions establish a thriller about trauma, suspicion, and a changed family life, not a continuation of Castle’s format or relationships.

If you want to see Katic lead a darker story built around a personal mystery, Absentia is a natural one to consider. If what you want is specifically the experience of Castle, the shared star alone does not establish that these shows will feel alike.
Is Absentia on Netflix?
Netflix’s guide lists three seasons and says all three can be streamed, but Netflix availability is territory-specific. The Netflix UK title page currently shows that Absentia is not available to watch in the UK. Check your own country’s Netflix catalog rather than assuming the title is available worldwide.

What about Prime Video?
Amazon announced on November 15, 2017, that Absentia was joining Prime Video’s original dramatic series lineup. That announcement documents the show’s release history; it does not confirm that Prime Video carries it now or in a particular country. See Amazon’s announcement.
