Spotify announced a Premium price update on August 4, 2025, for subscribers in several markets across Europe and Latin America, as well as other regions. It did not say that every country in either region was affected or publish a complete list of countries and new prices. If you subscribe, your Spotify email and your country’s Premium page are the best places to check whether your plan is changing and when.
Is Spotify increasing prices in my country?
Spotify’s August 4, 2025 announcement said Premium subscribers in “several countries” across Europe and Latin America, along with South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific, would receive an email during the following month. Check the email associated with your Spotify account and the Premium page for your country. Spotify’s Mexico Premium page, for example, shows local offers, but a live country page is not proof that a specific plan there was included in the 2025 update or what its previous price was.
How much will Spotify Premium cost after the increase?
Spotify did not publish one global new price or a complete local price table in its August 2025 announcement. Prices and available plans vary by country, so a euro amount reported for one market should not be treated as the increase for all of Europe or Latin America. For your plan’s updated amount, use the price in Spotify’s notice or account information; do not infer a local before-and-after price from a current offer page.

When will the new Spotify price appear on my bill?
Spotify Support says affected subscribers are emailed the new price and receive a one-month grace period to cancel before it takes effect. The actual charge date depends on your billing cycle, so check your account and notice rather than relying on one region-wide date. Spotify Support: Price updates
If you are on a free trial, Spotify says that after the trial ends you will have one month at the original price before the updated price applies. The timing of your own charge still depends on the terms shown for your account.

Can I cancel Spotify before the price goes up?
Yes. Spotify advises subscribers who do not want the updated price to cancel before their next billing date. Its support guidance also suggests checking whether another paid plan is available to you or switching to Spotify’s free, ad-supported service. Plan availability and eligibility are account- and market-specific; review the options shown in your account before changing plans.
Do Spotify gift cards keep the old price?
No. Spotify Support says gift cards purchased at a lower price remain redeemable, but they can be used only for Premium Individual. That redemption rule does not lock in an old recurring subscription rate or cover future monthly charges at the previous price. Check the card’s terms and your account’s updated subscription price before relying on it.

Is this a new 2026 price increase?
No. The Europe and Latin America announcement discussed here was dated August 4, 2025. Spotify made a separate announcement on January 15, 2026, naming subscribers in the United States, Estonia and Latvia for another update. The later notice is distinct and does not establish that all European or Latin American countries were part of either update. Spotify’s January 2026 announcement

Spotify said occasional price updates across its markets reflect the value it delivers and enable the company to continue offering the best possible experience and benefit artists. The company also described the change as supporting continued innovation in features and products. That is Spotify’s stated rationale, not independent evidence that a particular subscriber received a specific new benefit.
