Spotify’s RADAR program is active in 2026, with announced editions in Spain, Italy and Asia. It supports selected emerging artists with tailored promotion and creative resources. Those announcements do not confirm that a RADAR edition has relaunched in Portugal; Spotify’s published material reviewed here does not identify a Portuguese return.
What Spotify’s RADAR program does
RADAR is Spotify’s artist-support program, not a playlist submission tool. Spotify describes support for up to a year around key releases and career milestones, tailored to each artist and market. Published elements include bespoke marketing campaigns, original video and photography, priority consideration for Spotify Singles, and access to Spotify studios in Los Angeles, Stockholm and London. Spotify’s RADAR program page says the global music team selects artists; it does not publish a general application process or a universal eligibility checklist.

That means artists should not assume there is an open application they can submit to join. Spotify’s description points to selection by its music team rather than guaranteed consideration for anyone who meets a public set of criteria.
Where Spotify has announced RADAR editions in 2026
Spain
In an April 21, 2026 announcement, Spotify named Alcalá Norte, El Bobo de las 3000, Gara Durán, Metrika and Teo Planell for RADAR Spain’s 2026 edition. Spotify described editorial placement, tailored marketing plans and original content opportunities across playlists, Spotify channels and social media. The Spanish edition began in 2020; Spotify said it had featured more than 50 artists by the time of the announcement. Spotify’s Spain announcement also reported nearly 70% average stream growth one year after joining for RADAR Spain artists, and more than 24% stream growth so far for the 2025 class. Those are Spotify-reported figures for different cohorts and time windows, not guaranteed results.

Italy
Spotify’s June 11, 2026 announcement named Sara Gioielli, faccianuvola, Angelica Bove, prima stanza a destra, Visino Bianco and Emili Kasa for RADAR Italia. Spotify characterized its 2026 approach as more continuous and flexible, emphasizing long-term value, personalized support and deeper storytelling. In the same announcement, Spotify reported more than 700% average monthly-listener growth and 540% follower growth within a year for RADAR Italia artists, along with more than 15 million fan playlist adds and an average of 38 new countries reached in artists’ first year. These are Spotify’s program figures, not independently established causal effects. Adelechiara Nicoletti, Spotify’s Head of Artist and Label Partnerships for Southern and Eastern Europe, said: “The true value of RADAR lies in the teamwork we do on a daily basis with these young artists and their teams.” Read Spotify’s Italy announcement.
Asia
In its May 5, 2026 announcement, Spotify highlighted emerging artists from several Asian markets, including P-pop act VVINK, fitterkarma, Thai rock band GOODMOOD, eńau, Japanese band luv and Taiwanese artist Lu Yun. Spotify said the artists receive editorial amplification and tailored marketing plans. Spotify’s Asia announcement presents this as a regional program spanning multiple markets, not as evidence of a Portugal edition.

What the announcements do—and don’t—establish about Portugal
The 2026 announcements show that Spotify continues to run regional RADAR editions, but editions in Spain, Italy and Asia do not prove that the program has restarted in Portugal. The available official material does not identify a Portuguese relaunch date or a Portuguese artist cohort. So the claim that Spotify has “resumed” RADAR should be treated as unverified if it is meant to describe Portugal specifically.
Spotify’s current program page says RADAR has supported more than 1,000 artists across 183 countries. That is a broad, undated program-page figure; it does not specify a Portuguese edition or establish when one may have operated. RADAR is not Release Radar
Release Radar is a playlist feature that helps listeners discover new releases; RADAR is the artist-support program. Spotify’s help page, titled “Como colocar músicas no Radar de Novidades,” concerns Release Radar: it advises pitching a track at least seven days before release for playlist consideration.
