What is 11.22.63 about?
The limited series adapts Stephen King’s 2011 novel. It follows Jake Epping, an ordinary high-school teacher who discovers a time portal to 1960 and tries to prevent President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. The past resists his efforts, while his mission becomes bound up with the people and life he encounters in 1960s Texas. Hulu’s announcement describes the premise; King’s official site also describes it as an eight-part series.

Why is it called a Netflix hit?
11.22.63 ranked No. 3 on the Netflix U.S. Top 10 in a chart snapshot dated January 16, 2026. That makes “hit” supportable as a description of its chart performance on that date. It does not establish how many people watched, how long the series stayed on the chart, or whether it remains popular now. The cited chart coverage does not provide a Netflix viewing total.
Where can you watch 11.22.63 now?
Netflix Tudum said the series was streaming on Netflix in an article published January 10, 2026. The JustWatch U.S. listing, checked October 7, 2026, also showed it on Netflix and Netflix Standard with Ads. That U.S.-specific listing additionally showed digital purchase through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, and Fandango At Home.

Catalogs vary by country and change over time. If you are outside the United States, check the Netflix catalog in your region; the U.S. availability listing does not establish where the series is available elsewhere. The JustWatch U.S. page did not list Hulu as a current service on its October 7, 2026 check, even though Hulu was the series’ original home.
How did a Hulu Original become available on Netflix?
Hulu announced 11.22.63 as a Hulu Original and set its exclusive Hulu debut for February 15, 2016. Netflix’s later streaming availability does not change that origin: it is a Hulu-produced original series that subsequently became available on Netflix. Netflix Tudum confirmed its Netflix availability in January 2026.

Format and cast
Netflix Tudum presents the show as an eight-episode limited series. Hulu’s 2015 announcement called it a “nine-hour event series”; those descriptions use different format language, so they should not be treated as a verified exact runtime. Hulu’s January 2016 release named James Franco, Daniel Webber, Sarah Gadon, Chris Cooper, Josh Duhamel, Cherry Jones, George MacKay, Lucy Fry, Leon Rippy, and Brooklyn Sudano in the cast. It also named J.J. Abrams, Stephen King, Bridget Carpenter, and Bryan Burk as executive producers.

The series is an adaptation of King’s novel, not a prerequisite for reading it or vice versa. The available descriptions establish the shared central premise, but do not support a detailed account of specific plot changes between the book and screen version. Viewers looking for a compact, serialized time-travel story centered on the attempt to stop the Kennedy assassination can start with the show; readers interested in the source material can turn to the 2011 novel.
