When did Sophie Falkiner announce her engagement?
Falkiner shared the news on Instagram over the weekend before PerthNow reported it on 2 October 2023. In the caption reproduced by the newspaper, she thanked Wood for his “kindness, strength, thoughtfulness, integrity, and love,” adding: “I love you, and I can’t wait to be your wife.”
Falkiner’s words celebrated the engagement; they are not a current description of the couple’s marital status. Later coverage reported that they married in November 2024.
Where did Steve Wood propose to Sophie Falkiner?
The proposal took place during a holiday in the Whitsundays. New Idea’s 9 October 2023 report described a secluded beach and said the trip lasted eight days, but neither report identifies the specific island or beach. The accommodation and resort have not been named in the available coverage.

PerthNow reported that Falkiner’s children and other family members were with the couple on the holiday. That detail is attributable to the newspaper’s account.
What is known about the engagement ring?
Coverage describes the ring in broad terms only. Now To Love called it an oval-shaped diamond, while New Idea described it as a solitaire. Neither account establishes the maker, exact model, setting details, carat, or price, so those descriptions do not identify a specific retail ring.
