Sophia Bush and Ashlyn Harris’s first date was reported to have happened a couple of weeks before October 17, 2023, according to an unnamed source quoted by PEOPLE. The report gave an estimate, not a confirmed calendar date.
What the first report said
PEOPLE’s October 17, 2023 report, syndicated by Yahoo, said Bush and Harris had been friends for years and moved from shared social circles to a first dinner date “a couple of weeks ago.” The account came from an unnamed source in their social circle, not from Bush or Harris directly. How long had they been friends?
The original report said they had been friends for years, but neither it nor the later accounts cited here specify how many years. Bush later wrote that she asked Harris to meet outside their friend group, recalling that their meal lasted four and a half hours. Us Weekly’s account of Bush’s recollection.

How they later remembered the date
In March 2025, Harris recalled the date on Rachel Bilson’s Broad Ideas podcast, according to Us Weekly. She said they walked around New York City, the date lasted about four hours, and “the date turned into like the whole night.” Her recollection adds detail about how the evening unfolded, but not its precise date. Us Weekly’s timeline says Bush filed for divorce from Grant Hughes in August 2023 and Harris filed for divorce from Ali Krieger in September 2023. Those filing months provide context, but they do not identify the day of the dinner or establish a complete account of either person’s private relationship timeline.

The October 2023 first-date item was an early report based on an anonymous source. Later first-person recollections offered more about the evening, while Us Weekly’s timeline reports that Bush and Harris married in an intimate ceremony in upstate New York in summer 2025. That later milestone should not be mistaken for information the original report had established.
