What is “Last Dance With Mary Jane”?
It is a song from Missionary, the Snoop Dogg album listed by Apple Music with a December 12, 2024 date. The listing names Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Tom Petty and Jelly Roll as artists, and credits Jelly Roll as a performer. Apple Music’s album listing and credits identify Petty as a performing artist and composer, and Dr. Dre as producer and mixing engineer.
The track draws on Petty’s 1993 song “Mary Jane’s Last Dance.” Universal Music Canada described the new song as featuring Petty and Jelly Roll in its December 13, 2024 announcement.
How the song connects to Tom Petty’s original
The connection is more than a title reference: the track uses music from “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” with Petty credited as a performer and composer. Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre’s version reframes that source within Missionary, with Jelly Roll also performing.
