Singham Again delivers the car chases, explosive set pieces and cop-universe reunions that Rohit Shetty fans expect, but its rescue plot has to make room for a sprawling cast and Ramayana parallels. The result is a loud, often entertaining action ride whose scale can come at the expense of character depth and narrative focus.
What is Singham Again about?
Released theatrically on November 1, 2024, Singham Again is a Hindi-language action film directed by Rohit Shetty. Its listed runtime is 2 hours 24 minutes, or approximately 144 minutes. The story sends police chief Bajirao Singham, played by Ajay Devgn, and his allies on a mission to rescue his wife Avni (Kareena Kapoor Khan) from the antagonist Danger Lanka. The rescue premise draws on parallels with the Ramayana.

Does the action deliver?
For viewers who come to a Shetty cop-universe film for high-volume spectacle, the action is the clearest reason to watch. Ankit Ojha’s review for The National points to car chases, hyperkinetic set pieces and exploding cars as familiar trademarks, delivered here in abundance. Ojha rated the film 3/5.
The tradeoff is that action cues and escalating scale can crowd out quieter character moments. The film’s appeal is less about a tightly controlled thriller than the momentum and visual punch of a large ensemble colliding around one rescue mission.

How well does the ensemble fit together?
Alongside Devgn and Kapoor Khan, the cast includes Deepika Padukone as Shakti Shetty, Ranveer Singh as Simmba, Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi and Tiger Shroff as Satya. Padukone and Shroff are new recruits to the franchise, and Ojha praises the balance they bring to the ensemble.
That breadth also creates a challenge: a rescue story has to make room for many familiar characters and their action beats. The result can feel overstuffed, and the larger narrative loses some of the underdog charm associated with the first two Singham films, according to Ojha. The humor is uneven as well; some jokes did not work for the National reviewer.

Do the Ramayana parallels work?
The Ramayana connection gives the rescue plot a recognizable frame, but it does not automatically make the story more coherent. Rotten Tomatoes’ critics section displays mixed reactions to how the film handles those parallels, including criticism of the connection’s execution. Those are individual critical judgments, not a settled verdict; viewers who enjoy mythic echoes in contemporary action may respond differently from those who want the references to be more fully integrated into the characters and plot.
Is it a good choice for newcomers?
The film brings together characters from Shetty’s cop universe, so longtime followers are better positioned to enjoy the reunions and franchise callbacks. Newcomers can follow the central rescue premise, but the crowded cast and accumulated franchise cues may make the story less inviting than a focused standalone action film.

At the time Rotten Tomatoes was checked in 2026, it displayed a 29% Tomatometer from 17 reviews and a 73% Popcornmeter from more than 100 verified ratings. These are a changing platform snapshot, not permanent or independently measured measures of audience opinion. The gap suggests a notably different response among critics and verified users on the site at that point.
What kind of violence should viewers expect?
The BBFC’s UK classification record describes the film as containing strong bloody violence. Its detailed advice also notes shootings, stabbings and bladed-weapon injuries, a kidnapping, crashes, drug-trafficking references, injury detail, mild bad language and flashing images. Singham Again is most likely to satisfy viewers who want Rohit Shetty’s signature spectacle and the pleasure of seeing a large cop-universe cast reunite. Its action supplies the energy; the sprawling rescue plot, uneven humor and crowded character roster are the cost. If a tightly focused story and sustained character development matter more than scale, this may feel like too much film competing for attention.
