Simone Biles won the women’s individual all-around gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics on August 1. Her final rotation was floor exercise, with Taylor Swift’s “…Ready for It?” among the music identified in NBC Sports’s live coverage. Biles scored 15.066 on floor in the all-around final.
What did the Taylor Swift song have to do with Biles’s gold?
Floor exercise was Biles’s fourth and final apparatus in the all-around competition. NBC Olympics described her floor performance as sealing the victory, while NBC Sports’s contemporaneous coverage identified Taylor Swift’s “…Ready for It?” as part of the routine’s music. The song was part of the performance’s soundtrack; the gold was awarded for the combined all-around result across four apparatuses.
USA Gymnastics listed Biles’s floor score in that all-around final as 15.066. That is an apparatus score contributing to her all-around result, not her score in the separate floor final.
Why was the all-around win historic?
The Paris victory gave Biles her second Olympic all-around title, following her win at Rio 2016. USA Gymnastics reported that she became the first woman since 1968 to win two Olympic all-around titles. Sunisa Lee won bronze in the Paris all-around.

Did Simone Biles win the individual floor final?
No. The all-around final and the individual floor final were separate medal events. Biles won gold in the all-around on August 1, then earned silver in the later floor-exercise final. Her 15.066 score discussed above belongs to the all-around final, not that later event.
What did Biles say after the competition?
NBC Olympics reported Biles saying after the competition: “Three years ago I never thought I’d step foot on a gymnastics floor again because of everything that had happened but with the help of Cecile and Laurent (Landi) I got back in the gym and worked really hard mentally and physically.”
