Shrinking Season 2 continues the story of Jimmy, a therapist coping with grief whose blunt, rule-breaking approach to his clients’ problems keeps complicating their lives—and his own. Across 12 episodes, the comedy-drama gives its ensemble room to grapple with relationships, guilt and the effort to move forward. Season 2 premiered in 2024; Apple now lists Season 3, released January 28, 2026.
What is Shrinking Season 2 about?
The series follows Jimmy, played by Jason Segel, after the death of his wife. He begins telling clients exactly what he thinks, disregarding his professional training and ethics. That premise drives the show’s mix of comedy and emotional fallout: Jimmy wants to help, but his interventions create consequences in other people’s lives as well as his own. Apple’s official series description frames his conduct as a departure from his training and ethics, not a model for good therapy.

Season 2 opens with Jimmy wrestling with guilt over Grace. The premiere, “Jimmying,” also brings Paul’s relationship to a decision point and finds Liz trying to help Gaby find balance in a busy life. Those threads signal an ensemble story rather than a season concerned only with Jimmy’s recovery. Apple’s episode listing gives “Jimmying” a 33-minute runtime and a TV-MA rating, with violence and language advisories.
How many episodes are there, and when did they come out?
Season 2 has 12 episodes. Apple announced a two-episode global premiere on October 16, 2024, followed by one new episode each Wednesday through the finale on December 25, 2024. The season is complete; it is not the series’ latest season, since Apple lists Season 3 with a January 28, 2026 release date on its series page.

Who is in the cast?
The returning ensemble includes Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, alongside Christa Miller, Jessica Williams, Luke Tennie, Michael Urie, Lukita Maxwell and Ted McGinley. What is the tone of Season 2?
The show’s appeal comes from the contrast between an often-funny group of friends and colleagues and the grief and relationship problems they are trying to live with. Rotten Tomatoes’ critics’ consensus describes Season 2 as a “big-hearted” hangout comedy centered on its characters. In a review dated October 18, 2024, Brian Tallerico of RogerEbert.com put the shift this way: “The humor is sharper this year; the emotion lands harder.” These are critical descriptions, not a claim that the characters’ choices—especially Jimmy’s—are sound therapeutic practice.

A US availability check by JustWatch on October 7, 2026 also listed the series for purchase on DVD through Amazon DVD / Blu-ray, but that does not establish that a Season 2-only disc edition exists or that any particular listing remains in stock.
