Sex and the City is an HBO comedy-drama about New York writer Carrie Bradshaw and the friendships and relationships that inspire her newspaper column. Created by Darren Star and based on Candace Bushnell’s book, the original series follows Carrie, Samantha Jones, Charlotte York and Miranda Hobbes across six seasons and 94 episodes, according to HBO’s press listing.
What is Sex and the City about?
Carrie Bradshaw writes about her personal life and friendships, drawing material from her experiences with friends and lovers. HBO describes the column as shaped by “her personal life and friendships.” The series uses that premise to follow Carrie and her three close friends as they navigate relationships and life in New York City. It is a framing for the show, rather than a complete account of every season’s story.

How many seasons and episodes are there?
HBO’s press room lists the original Sex and the City as six seasons and 94 episodes. Hulu’s catalogue page also lists six seasons and 94 episodes. These counts refer to the original series, not the later continuation And Just Like That… or the feature films.
Where can you watch Sex and the City?
Availability depends on location and can change as streaming rights and catalogues change. Hulu’s listing currently presents the series, but that does not establish access for every country, subscription, or date. Check the catalogue for your territory before subscribing or planning a watch.
For viewers who prefer a lasting copy, Warner Bros. Discovery identified Blu-ray, DVD and digital versions of the complete original series in its announcement. That confirms those formats were offered at the time of the announcement; it does not establish current stock, a particular edition, or retailer availability. Check the seller’s listing for the exact edition and what it includes.
