Shakira staged a free surprise concert at the TSX stage in New York’s Times Square on March 26, 2024, to promote her album Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran. TelevisaUnivision reported that 40,000 people gathered; Sony Music España described the audience as more than 40,000. Those figures come from the event’s media and music-company partners, not a published independent count.
What happened at Shakira’s Times Square show?
Shakira announced the pop-up only hours before it took place, according to NME and Spanish public broadcaster RTVE. The performance was held at TSX Entertainment’s stage in Times Square, was free to attend, and was livestreamed globally, according to TelevisaUnivision.
The show promoted Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, which TelevisaUnivision identified as Shakira’s 12th studio album. Sony Music España said TSX Entertainment co-produced the event, which was presented by ViX, Vinfast, and Sony Music Latin.
How many people attended?
Reports put the crowd at about 40,000, but their wording differs. TelevisaUnivision’s March 27, 2024 announcement said the concert gathered 40,000 people; Sony Music España’s April 1 recap said more than 40,000 attended. RTVE also reported around 40,000, attributing the estimate to organizers.

The reports converge on roughly 40,000 attendees, but none describes an independent counting method. The figure is best understood as a reported estimate from the event’s partners and organizers, rather than an independently audited total.
